Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi Everyone
I am looking for a puppy and felt sure I wanted a Labradoodle, probably an Australian, but a friend says she knows several and that they are hyper. I don't want a nutty dog and so am sadly having second thoughts. She also said that an English Goldendoodle is going to be more mellow. Now I am completely confused. If I do go with the English Goldenddoodle, can anyone recommend a good breeder. I live in Northern California, but am willing to travel. I am very committed to finding a responsible breeder, not a puppy mill.
Thanks!
Sheila

I think many people that have 'hyper' dogs just don't give them enough exercise. There are some truly nutty dogs out there but a lot of people think doodles will be a good family dog without any exercise or training. It takes a lot of work to train a good family dog.
There are a bunch of books and youtube videos about how to train calmness and self control in puppies. I think they work wonders.
Mickey is high energy at his Puppy School Class. He is the one all excited and all the other puppies just look at him like he's from another planet. But he loves them all and their people too. He is doing well in the class but I am sure he's not gonna get the First Place ribbon. He is 4 1/2 months old. He is a F1 Golden Doodle and he is the best boy ever. He does take lots of naps so you do get a break from the action.
PS i got my puppy from a breeder in central California. If you message me I will share the info. We are very pleased with our dog. Our breeder is on this site as one of the approved breeders in California. She has been doing it for years. You can tell our puppy is just the perfect Doodle. His daddy is great and has sired lots of pups and his mom was one beautiful Golden Retriever.
