ARE PEOPLE REALLY THAT MEAN?

I have been looking at other goldendoodle forums on the web and I'm shocked at  how mean people can be about this breed. What is it about the Doodles that get people all riled up ?. It's a little scary..lol I wanted to post on some of these forums but was too afraid that they would eat me up and spit me out! I figure I don't know enough to defend myself.. I am curious, what do you say to people who are blatantly rude  to you? I know one thing though..I skedaddled out of there quickly and came running back here lol

Here's my favorite motto for those who just can't keep their opinions to themselves....."Your opinion of me (or my dog) is NONE of MY business" .I truly Don't care, usually don't answer, always walk away....smiling as my beautiful well behaved smart dogs come running over to me when I call them. That's always my statement......my dogs behavior and playfulness when these people are around.
Yes there are a lot of mean people out there. And we have even been accused of being mean and haters, but the real loving caring spirit of how we all feel about all dogs usually shines through brighter on those occasions. We are all human and will say/write things wish we hadn't in retrospect. A lot of it is just plain ignorance and not taking the time to really get to know all the facts before judging another person, or their dog. So just forgive them their ignorance and move on. With your wonderful doodle by your side. You have him, they don't. Kinda feel sorry for them actually. To never really know a doodle, is sad.

Hi Laurie ~

Sorry that you have encountered such rude people. I have had a few people give me that hairy eyeball look when I say that my Finnley is a GoldenDoodle. For the most part REAL animal people, are just that, people who don't judge when they see a dog, cat or hamster that looks different. They just see it as a sweet beautiful creature.

However, when you do encounter one of the rude people,

I would go with the Diane, Baker & Oskar comment of "Why do you care?" When you say this outloud (head shaking), just be thinking to yourself.... "Laurie, you just can't fix stupid!"  lol :)

I don't understand why people feel the need to criticize somebody else's dog. I'm a bit biased towards doodles, but dogs are dogs. I like them all. It's like openly criticizing somebody's child for having curly hair and long legs. My dog is my dog. You mind your own business.

I never encounter blatant prejudice against my dogs but I have seen dog forums like that I do whatever it is I came there to do and ignore the rest.

I ask them a question which usually shuts them up immediately - what different genes were mixed to get your purebred whatever? There is only one true.purebred as far as I know.
Just stay away and hug your doodle. These are the same people who cannot make a friend outside their own circle. We doodle families I have seen first hand include all.
