Hi DK Friends,

If any of pray, I could use some prayers for a friend.  Her husband and two sons (my kids' ages) were in a terrible accident.  They were leaving the lake, traveling on a dirt road and hit an area of washboard and it sent them over the cliff and into a lake.  The dad was able to pull the eldest out and he got CPR right away.  The youngest (2.5 years old) was not found by Dad but rangers were able to find him.  The eldest boy has been released and is okay.  But their toddler is hanging by a thread. The latest update from my friend:

"Riley was lifeless for 2hrs and 20min before they were able to get a heart beat. Over the course of the day and A LOT of work, they have been able to stabilize him. They are keeping him in a hypothermic state to help keep his body from over working itself. We have about a 24 hour window of time to wait while they slooooowly warm up his body. After that 24 hrs, we will have a better idea of brain activity. Warriors - we have 24 hours to move mountains."

This is never good, but when it happens to a child, it's heart-wrenching to think about because my son and her son are only about a month apart in age.  So I can imagine how scary and painful this time is.  Please if you pray, pray for a miracle!

Thank you!

So sorry, Linda!

I'm so sorry Linda.  Losing a child is my worst nightmare.
Not that this makes the loss better, but Riley's parents were able to donate his liver, kidneys and heart.  His heart saved a young boy, kidneys saved a man on dialysis and I can't remember who the liver went to.  They are going to celebrate his life with fireworks the evening after the church memorial service so that it can be a tradition for Riley's older brother and his Dad annually.

That's lovely - the proverbial silver lining.

I am sorry for all the losses, losing a child has got to be the hardest thing ever. Organ donation is the most beautiful selfless gift anyone can give. I have so many friends alive because families were able to see past their grief and give life to others.

Families that donate can always remain anonymous but if they chose there are ways they can meet the families who's lives were saved. I was able to witness my friend who received double lungs meet the mother of a women who's son was shot and killed waiting to get inside a church. For as long as I live I will never forget that moment.

Prayers for all the families.

Adina, what a wonderful tradition to create to remember a youngster with.  Fireworks are so bright and have so much promise in their fire.

Oh my goodness, this is absolutely terrible. I'm thinking of your friends and sending positive thoughts during this difficult time.

So sorry for this loss of a child.

Adina, I'm so sorry and sad for the way this turned out.  But perhaps it helps that Riley's life gave life to others.

I share your thoughts.
