Bad breath!

This doodle girl is way too pretty to be sporting bad breath! Bought the toothbrushing kit...she hates it! Tried Tropiclean dental chews...lasts about 5 minutes. What's the secret to nice breath? Vet checked her and said small amount of tartar...nothing major. Groomer cleans her teeth every grooming (5 weeks). Help!

I think it' san inherent thing, perhaps genetic. My dogs eat the same things eye. Calla needed a cleaning under anesthesia this year. I use a variety of things on her including a chlorhexidine rinse, which is the only thing that seems to help keep odor and inflammation. It is made by Virbac.

Her diet is Taste of the Wild and i mix in some carrot/apple pulp from my my juicer. She loves that! Other than that, not much. Just the dental chews. Her groomer cleans her teeth as part of her monthly routine but i think she needs more. She is only 17 months old so i hate to think of her as an adult. She is our 3rd dog (3 german shepherds over 25 years...talk about tumble weeds,lol) but none had bad breath.

Oh my gosh...I just looked at all your pictures of your gorgeous gorgeous doodle and such beautiful coloring!  You are right...no dood should have bad breath!  I feed mine raw...every consider raw...cheaper & easier...but, I know, I know...controversial.  Just sayin'....

Aww. Thanks so much. Funny because over the summer, or so it seems, she has gotten lighter. I think after her last trim there is a cream coat peeking thru. I dont care what color she ends up. She could be purple and i would still be crazy about her :).

I cant resist. Tonight she got a time out for getting in to something. Should have lasted at least an hour but 5 minutes later....ugh. She gets me with those eyes everytime,lol.

We use tropiclean liquid and put it in Meg's water, she drinks it right up and it takes care of it, never smell her breath at all now.
