How did you do it?
Wow. I really should try this.
My daughter taught her dog, Grendel, to speak with a hand signal--and to speak more quietly, and to "whisper." It's really something to see a big dog whisper-bark! I don't know how she did it, but the signal is like a quacking duck, with the whisper command being just a little quack. If that makes sense.
Not a bit: ) a little sense really. Could your daughter film this possibly and tell us a bit about how. Maybe when Grendel is visiting you.
Like so:
Blah-blah-blah
Fingers are kept straight (horizontally) and held together with the thumb touching the fingers underneath. The fingers then move (together) upwards while the thumb moves downwards. The fingers and thumb move in opposite directions, “opening” and “closing,” several times to suggest a mouth speaking (it also looks sort of like a duck quacking). This hand gesture is used to mimic an individual who is talking too much and saying too little. It can also be used to indicate a boring conversation.
Then the hard part is how to train the loud bark, the quieter bark and the whisper. Egads.
Yeah, that's what I said! lol
The whisper is just making the distance between thumb and fingers a little space instead of the bigger opening for 'speak.' Frankly, I'm not sure Trav is smart enough to get this--or maybe I'm not smart enough to train it. Anyhow, I have a video feature on my little camera, so will try to get a video of Angela and Grendel.
F, I'll ask her to demonstrate and explain. So the quacking duck didn't quite do it for you...? lol
I can not get her attention though to look at me ..she is hopping around like a kangaroo ...
Can your daughter move in with me?? Free room and board for dog training :)
Good idea. But I suspect Pat's daughter does not need room and board and try fitting Grendel in an airline crate. and board for Grendel must run about $200 a month for kibble : )
Darn it, F, I was sure I had the answer :)
