Bee sting

Sophie bit a bee.  It stung her on the right upper lip.  It is swollen slightly but she seems okay.  Should I do more than just monitor herr?

I always use a paste of meat tenderizer on any bee stings but, Sophie would probably lick it off her lip.

Secondly, I give my animals a Benedryl tablet when they are stung.

Actually, although there may be some discomfort, unless the animal is allergic to bee stings, it isn't a very serious situation.

Holding some ice on it might help, too.

I grow a lot of Lavender to attract the bee's to my vegetable garden. Last year Gus was on a daily hunt for bee's he ate plenty without getting stung. The few times that he wasn't so lucky he'd smack his lips, shake his head, paw his mouth then go back for more, there was no stopping him! I freaked the first time he was stung it was 4 in the afternoon he was just fine the rest of the evening, but I still checked every 1/2 hr during the night, Needless to say after a night of no sleep I figured if he was stupid enough to go back for more, so bee it. This year he could care less about the bee's he's moved on to lizards.

Sophie is doing fine. I gave her a bowl of ice cubes to crunch and that seemed to take the swelling down. No after effects at all that I can tell. I hope she learned a lesson. Thanks for the responses.
