Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Did anyone else take their Doodles to be blessed today? Linda (Webber & Seda) and I had plans to take the Doodles to Duke Chapel to be blessed at the blessing of the animals. Turns out the service was postponed until next Sunday due to rain so we found a small, quaint , little chapel near by that was holding a small service. Murphy, Wilson, Webber and Seda were all blessed along with other big dogs, small dogs, a horse and a guinea pig.

The Blessing of the Animals
It is the priestly work of all God's people to give thanks for God's blessings to us, to ask for and lend assistance for all in need, and to stretch our hands to heal and to cherish creatures of God; this is our work of blessing. Recognizing the blessing that these creatures are to us, I invite you to bring forward the animals entrusted to your care and to join me in the laying on of hands and in prayer.
Almighty and everlasting God, Creator of all things and giver of all life: Let your blessing be upon these and all animals. May our relationships with them mirror your love, and may our care for them follow the example of your bountiful mercy. Grant these animals health and peace. Strengthen us to love and care for them as we strive, like God's servant Francis of Assisi, to imitate Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Now you all have been to the Blessing of the Animals.
Wow Linda, thank you so much. I am sort of weepy today, first the poor doodle that was dumped because of a surgery need, the armed forces video I posted about KISS in Iraq, and now this. At least the last two are happy tears.
Your photos are beautiful, thank you for the blessing and the post.
There was a section in the ceremony where we prayed for all the abused and neglected animals. I hope that will cover the doodles we read about yesterday, and all days for that matter. You are so welcome. Thanks, Ronna, for starting this post and asking me to join in.
I love this. I just heard about this from a new member on Dk and she took her doodle Samson to the service.
I am glad someone got photos. Thanks for sharing.
I love the blessing of the animals. Our church did not do it this year. Not sure why. Cute pictures
Such great pictures of an awesome experience. They did it yesterday in our area too. Because of just getting back from the cruise we didn't make it, but next year I hope to go. Thanks for sharing your story & photos!
Ronna and Linda, I love this post and all of the beautiful pics that you two took! It looks like you two had a wonderful day together! Blessing animals that we love is just so sweet...
I wish I had known I am always the gal with the string around her finger. Maybe next year.
