Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

New to this site and already loving it!

I have a 3 year old rescue Labradoodle named Teddy. He is the perfect companion....doesnt talk back, doesnt hog the remote and keeps my feet warm at night.

Problem is he is giving me a headache almost daily lately. I rescued him about a year and half ago from a family that crated him approx 20-22 hrs a day. I of course have a crate but he associates it with discipline I think or other bad memories and will not budge into a crate.
Until recently I have not had too many problems with him, however, with the recent purchase of a new house (chosen mainly due to the large backyard for Teddy) problems are arising daily. He is jumping the fence when left alone for no more than 2 minutes in the yard and his most recent act of disobedience was to jump through the screen window. After bailing him out of doggy jail and a neighborhood that now knows him by name I am at my wits end. I am very good about making sure he has play dates and we go to my parents house with their two dogs and 8 acres of free range to run.

His need for speed is becoming unmanagable.

Any advice other than changing his name to Houdini??

Missi,

Unfortunatly, we had to put Tedd down yesterday. We came home to discover he wasnt moving and when we took him to the vet they said he had an enlarged heart. Me and my daughter are crushed. I need some help though. I am not sure how to remove my name from the weekly mailing list? I am sure we will see another labradoodle but for now I dont think I can handle receiving the weekly emails. Can you help me?

Leigh
Leigh, I am so sorry for your loss; my heart goes out to you and your daughter. Please try to find some comfort in the thought that Teddy's last days were filled with care and love, thanks to you.
To stop the weekly emails (temporarily I hope), click on "settings" in the upper right hand area of your page. Click "email", and it will allow you to change which messages and emails you receive.
Please know that we are grieving with you. Hugs from JD & me.
Thank you very much! We tend to forget that these pets really are a huge part of the family. And people that dont have someone like Teddy was in our lives just dont understand.
We will miss him everyday. I think I will miss him laying with me on the couch the most...yes he thought he was an 75lb lapdog....that and he coud play fetch till your arm fell off...and even then he would play by himself. He had a personality and you could always tell when he was smiling.

Thanks for your help. I am sure we will be checking in on the rest of the Doodle family we met but for now we just need some time.

Leigh and Kaitlyn
Leigh -

You gave Teddy a wonderful life. Please accept our sincere sympathy. I wish that there was more I could do to ease your pain.
