I am writing to let everyone know that my family is safe and sound, and I am hoping that the same is true for all of my DK friends from the area.
What a horrific day for our beautiful city and another devastating event for our nation. My thoughts go out to everyone who is injured or afraid.

What a horrible, horrible thing. I hope all of our friends and their loved ones in the area are safe.
Dreadful dreadful...what kind of people do such things? I'm hoping that all DKers and their families are safe too.
I just read about this. Such an awful thing. I hope everyone we know is safe.
I am glad you are safe. I often don't turn on the news till evening and I'm happy when I avoid a few hours of despair. But I spoke to my son a while ago and he told me about this. Whatever is this world coming to?
I was just able to catch up on the events - so awlful! Take care everyone!!!
omg what happened??? i'm glad that you and your family is safe
It is truly awful--so many innocent people hurt when they were celebrating a beautiful event---I am always grateful that this type of thing rarely happens in our country compared to other places, but maybe the rest of the world's horrors have caught up to us....I guess 9/11 was really the beginning of being afraid...so sad.
The race goes right through my college campus and as a student, I would go and cheer on the racers--especially the women--there were not many back then--it should be a day of celebration.
So horribly sad for so many reasons. Patriots Day is HUGE in Boston and really all of New England. It's an actual holiday for the State of MA. It has always been a big day of celebration of our history. The Red Sox game, the parades, the reenactments, and The Boston Marathon. We love Boston, and have always viewed it as such a safe and friendly city. So tragic that today's events have devastated the lives of the families of those who were killed and injured, but I fear that Boston will never be quite the same. I will never again be on Boylston St. in Boston and feel the same. I've heard that one of the deceased is a child...I'm so praying that isn't true. We CAN'T lose any more of our children to this type of crazy violence. Just too sad...and totally senseless.
And Laurie...I'm so glad that you and your family are safe.
The local ABC affiliate just confirmed that one of the deceased was an eight-year-old child. I am speechless.
NO......another innocent angel.
Yes, and there are at least 8 children among the critically and seriously injured being treated at the local hospitals.
