Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey everyone!
I was wondering if anyone has shared in my experiences with their Doodle(s) while trying to potty train.
Since night one Bowie hasn't (fingers crossed) pooped or peed in the house. He scratches, whines or barks at the back glass door until I let I see him and then he relieves himself outside. Every time, since he got here.
Since night one Bowie has not relieved himself in his crate.
I can't take credit away from the little man.. I haven't done anything special or secret. I have done things that I think you should do.
1. Wake up in the middle of the night to let your puppy relieve themselves. They can't hold it for hours upon hours like we can right away. I used to have to wake up a few times during the night. Now,
2. Take him outside after he plays, sleeps or eats. I usually wait 20 min to take him out after he has had some water. I have learned that he only poops 2x a day.
3. Bowie has a bedtime. It's 10:00 pm. So, my rule is I pull his food and water 2 hours before his bedtime. I ALWAYS offer him water/food before it gets taken away. AND it's never right before heavy activity.
Have you ever had a Doodle this easy to train? If so, at what age? Did I just get lucky? :)
*I know some might not agree with my rules for my golden doodle. But, I am doing the best I can*

Sounds like you are both doing awesome. Annabelle was pretty easy but not that easy.
I love the name Annabelle. :) Thanks for your comment.
Looks like I got off really easy with Zeus. He trained himself to use his potty bells 2 days after I brought him home (20 weeks old, with no previous training). He's never had an accident in the house, but has upchucked his dinner several times. It sounds like you are very attentive to Bowie's care and needs. He's fortunate to have such a great mommy. And, he's oh so adorable!
