Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are thinking about getting another puppy and I was wondering if anyone has any input on whether we get a boy or girl??

Ollie is a 19 month old male labradoodle.  He gets on with everyone and everything.

I was having this discussion  with some mums at the school gate and everyone seemed to have an opinion on this but thought I would ask other ''doodle'' people if they had any experience.  Some mums were saying that Ollie is still very much a puppy and two boys may cause problems once they hit around 2?????

I should have mentioned that Ollie is desexed and any puppy we get would also be desexed.

Thanks

I think two neutered males should be fine. My 13 month old labradoodle gets along with all other dogs, the only 'issues' we have ever had is with an occasional intact male at the dog park, Beck will try to ignore them but sometimes they get aggressive towards him
I think once they are spayed/neutered, there really isn't much of a difference. I think the biggest difference would be the personality of the individual puppy you pick. Meaning, whether you choose outgoing, submissive, dominant, shy etc. The biggest difference I would think is that males will be bigger.
Wouldn't matter! As long as you and your breeder select the temperament you want, girl or boy would be great.
I agree that it shouldn't matter! We're also adding another doodle to our family and told our breeder that we don't care if it's a boy or girl. All that should matter is having a good temperament and fitting in with you and the doodle you already have!
I have two "girls" 3 and 18 months and they just adore each other! Their best buddy is a male. All are spayed/neutered
I have one of each. The female is just one and the male will be 2 in March. They get along fine.
This thought has crossed my mind - many times... the last time was last night. I went on a site a particularly "stalk" and window shop for another puppy. I saw one in particular that I just fell in love with (it really doesn't take much for me to do that). I tossed it around in my head all night - even dreamed about it..... But unfortunately the timing is just not right... we'd have to travel to get it... can't do that now, we're going away in April, not sure how Tori would react to a live-in.. Is there a time that is best to bring another puppy in?????
I have 2 males and they get along great. They also get along with all female dogs.
