How very exciting! One that comes to mind if a long ride is involved is to avoid the usual rest stop grass areas for a puppy potty break because that's where so many others have gone! Find an out of the way spot! Bring fresh water and a bowl and extra towels! Good luck!

Would it help to put dog foot covers on the puppy for puppy potty breaks?

Don't forget a camera - document your puppy's homecoming and share with all of us.  Looking forward to photos of your new puppy.

Yes, lots of photos and videos!! We're at 10 months now and wish we had more videos since I didn't appreciate all the cuteness at that age. Margot was sooo cute, but I was overwhelmed and tired! Ditto on towels, wipes, and bags. We took the plane, but she got sick during car rides for the first month.

Just relax and have fun with your new puppy and remember "this too shall pass," about all things puppy :)

Totally agree! ;-) ...."And this too shall pass"(one of my live by quotes!) and yep the puppy months are a busy & sometimes stressful time period - butttt sooo worth it !
Congrats on the new pup :-)

Well if the car ride is long I'd suggest a paper bag just in case. I had to travel 25 miles to pick up Nala and on the way back she threw up her entire dinner! She still does this on car rides that are longer than 10 minutes. Very susceptible to car sickness. And especially as an 8 week puppy that has never been in a car, you don't know what to expect!

Hopefully the breeder will know not to have fed her right before your pick her up.  Then you just need to have some of her kibble and give her a few pieces occasionally during the ride home.  Don't want the tummy real full or empty.

Bring some towels- in case puppy gets car sick or has an accident!
Depending on the time of day you pick up your puppy, ask the breeder to either delay the next feeding or give it earlier. You don't want to take the puppy on a car ride with a full tummy. Good luck, have fun, and take lots of pics/videos! Oh, and try to get a good night's sleep tonight ;-)

How exciting!  Maybe the breeder will give you something from "mom" -a toy or a towel with her scent.  Enjoy!
