Last night I posted that Brinkley took an emergency trip to the vet yesterday because we thought he had gotten dehydrated from a beach trip on Sunday.  He worsened overnight so we took him back.  After lots and lots of tests, x-rays and ultrasounds there is a host of problems.  He has a fever of 106.3 and climbing.  His pancreas is enlarged and he probably has a pancreitis.  He also probably has ileus, which is an infection in the small intestine.  His guts aren't moving and his stomack is hard as a rock.  This is the major concern along with the fever.  They said they must get his intestines moving or it can be terrible trouble-- like him going septic and his brain overheating.

What we have going for us is that we caught it early-- really early.  They said most people wait too long thinking it will pass and then the worse case scenerio of death happens.  I just knew something was wrong last night and that's when I rushed him with moments to spare before the vet closed.  My husband spent all afternoon at the vet with him today and now Brinkley is staying overnight getting pumped full of pain meds, antibiotics and and fluids.  They are hoping with constant monitoring his intestines will start to move and not go sceptic.

I'm so scared.

Oh no!  Please keep us posted.  Thinking about Brinkley and praying!!!!

We seem to know how upset you are and what a difficult night and morning you had.  Our Sydney gave us a real scare this Spring.  Brinkley is such a beautiful Doodle and we can see how much you love him!  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Brinkley.  We will keep checking for an update on Brinkley's condition.
Update: We just got off the phone with the vet.  Brinkley has gained strength over the night-- he is barking which is a good sign.  He even ate a little bland food.  They are going to check his gut sounds in a bit-- if he has gut sounds after eating and they continue through the day he may be able to come home.  They need to make sure things are moving.  Will keep everyone updated.
Heather - we are happy to hear that they have encouraging news.  Our paws are crossed that Brinkley is home soon!
This is good news in my opinion.  Please keep us posted.  Saying a prayer here for you :)
Breathing a sigh of relief and continuing to pray Brinkley have a full and speedy recovery
Fantastic news and very encouraging!!
So good to hear. I hope this good news keeps going through the day. Poor Brinkley. Keep us updated!
