I was wondering what brush to get a new puppy (F1 with curls), until Les Pooches brushes are available again.

Thanks, Ginny.  I will put that on my list.

I agree! We had a group buy not too long ago of "The Untangler" comb. Best ever! I find myself using the comb almost constantly. It gets all those annoying little tie knots that most brushes go over and goes deeper to the skin.

Ro, I will google "The Untangler", and check that comb out.

Leslie, that is good info to know...I will start out with a soft brush, and then I think I'll order the CC and Les Pooches.  I'm glad to know I have time to get the better, stiffer brushes.

I agree with a good comb

Oooh, I'm going to have to check out this comb!  I have a buttercomb, but Eloise doesn't appreciate the comb now unless I'm using it on her ears.

Thanks, Leslie!  Looks like I need to make this my next purchase!

I use the CC T brush for brushing out, then when I hit a matt, I use the LP brush to get it out. This combination works best for us. We also have the green single LP brush.

I started Eloise on the CC T-brush, and also ended up getting the green LP brush during her coat change.  I lucked out on the timing - that was when they were still available, and I got it through Kemp at the Doodle Country Store.  The CC brush just couldn't handle her mats with the coat change, and I was using that and a CC Buttercomb, too.  There was no comparison when I got the LP brush; it was so much easier to deal with the mats.  Eloise had thick wavy hair as a puppy, and it's still thick & wavy, just a slightly different texture with the adult coat.  I use both brushes on her now - the LP when I need to "get thru" the hair better (it seems to grab more hair closer to the skin) and the CC for more regular brushing.  I think both are great...she really loves getting her hair brushed!

I also agree about not investing the $ in an LP until you see what your puppy's coat does.  My new puppy, Beasley, is just about 16 weeks now.  She's had fluffy hair with slight waves, but at around 12 to 13 weeks, it started getting super curly at the base.  Right now she looks like she had a bad perm, but only halfway up her hair as it comes in...poor girl, lol.  I've used the CC brush on her since day one, but I've also started using the LP brush on her.  Guess I'll have to figure out if she needs yet another type of brush once this coat decides what it wants to be.

Congrats on your new pup - very exciting!  Be sure to post pics!  :)

Any slicker brush will work for a young puppy.  I would order the LesPoochs - labeled Activet from England. Leslie and Yogi or Ro and Enzo can tell you the company they ordered from. A dog with a fairly easy coat may not need the expensive brush, but I assume that you will have a curly  doodle being an F1b.

This is where we have purchased the LP (activet) brush
