so lately, Fozzie has decided that he doesn't like me to brush him. It is a huge bummer because he has really thick hair, that is semi curly, that Mattes on his fron end, especially around his head...so lately, I have had to try and catch him when I have the energy to fight with him, try to comb through what I can, cut out what I can? Does anyone have advice on making this a more pleasant experience? He tries to chew my hands up the entire time I attempt to brush him, and his coat is taking the beating, its getting more matted by the day.

he is 1....but he is much more tolerant of the body as well,...this is a great tip!! I hope Foz comes around in a year ;) I love his coat, and really don't wanna go short again :(
Abby hated to be brushed until she was 1. She as never had a mat and could have been brushed quickly. She doesn't love it now but doesn't pull away anymore. I use Les Poochs & CC brushes on her, they work well on her curly coat. I also had her cut shorter during her coat change.
From comments made on here, I tried brushing Toby while he was busy with his Kong. Bingo!! Brushed one side completely, using the back brushing technique we were taught in Puppy School, flipped him over, and then did his other side. He even tolerated me doing his head and ears! After our walk, I found a large burr under his chin. I had my son hold a long wooden spoon with peanut butter on it so Toby's head would tilt up, and brushed that burr right out. We use a slicker brush.
