My friends dog that is a mini golden doodle ate 3/4 of a stick of butter. He weighs about 40 pounds. Does she need to worry? I have no idea, I worry about pancreatitis but I don't know and when I googled it I didn't get much help.

Anyone know?

Bexter did this & was fine.  A little runny poop as I recall but no biggie. He is 40 pounds too.

It's an awful lot of fat, (66 grams, 600 calories, all fat) so a dog that was prone to pancreatitis would possibly be in trouble, but every dog who ingests something high fat doesn't get sick. I would definitely expect some diarrhea, though.

She could make it vomit with hydrogen peroxide, a tablespoon or two, if the time of passage hasn't elapsed.

I would be worried, although it depends on the individual dog.  I would watch for diarrhea, vomiting, and general lethargy.  I would not hesitate to bring the dog to the Vet to be tested if these symptoms appear.  I know from experience how quickly Pancreatitis can get to the critical point.

Lilly ate more than that once. Wife had left a just opened one pound block of Irish butter on the counter and came back into the kitchen and it was gone. She had no problems from it. Unless you count the butter breath which gave her away when we were trying to figure out which one stole it.
Thanks! She called her vet ...they said he should be able to manage it with just some GI discomfort ..but to watch. So far he is acting totally fine!

Silly doodle butters for humans!

Thanks for your advice ..she appreciates it
