St. Paddy's is coming right up and as usual I'll be making corned beef with cabbage, red potoates and carrots.  Yummy if I do say and I'll be having guests as well.  It ocurred to me that now that I know Nicky - my first really Irish friend - that perhaps I should also make an authentic Irish dessert.  I have no clue what that might be.  I'm actually a better baker than I am a cook so this might be fun.  So - I'm asking Nicky to enlighten me on Irish desserts - I'm guessing Baileys Irish Cream doesnt' qualify - lol.  Or any others of you of Irish decent - what is your favorite Irish dessert receipe?

I'm so glad you posted this, Jane!  We're having our annual St Paddy's day party on Saturday and I've also been trying to decide what to make for dessert.  I'll have to make the regular choc chip cookies for the kids, but I wanted something different for the adults.  I did find one recipe for Chocolate Guinness Cake that sounded good, but I'm not sure it's authentically Irish.

Here's what we ended up with......the kids were happy and the green sprinkles are as close as I could come to an Irish dessert.

All looks delicious!

What's that in the little cups between the brownies and the cookies?

Graham cracker crust, marshmallow and chocolate.  Kind of like s'mores.....the kids love them.

Looks great to me.

All looking yummie from here. I think you did the greening of the day just great.

We had lamb with roasties and for dessert plain old ice-cream since it's just my man and me and of course Riley (who loves ice-cream)  Tomorrow it's Mothers Day here so my girls are coming over and we are going out for a lovely walk and afternoon tea in our favorite place.  There was a parade here in the town (which is just around the corner) but I'm ashamed to say that the three of us slept it out and didn't wake until 11am!!!! (by three I mean Riley, my man and me of course) apparently we missed a big parade complete with fire eaters and Leprachauns. Mind you I can't remember when we last slept so long.

Sounds like an awesome day to me.  Enjoy Mothers Day!  We did afternoon tea every day when we were in Ireland.....it felt really special.

Happy Mothers Day!!

You are an amazing Mother and Friend...

Enjoy the day with your family Nicky.

Hugs and Love from Sasha and Me...

Happy Mother's Day!

I will send out a twitter request to my foodie friends here and who knows what I will come back with... one that immediately  comes to mind is yummy Brown Bread Ice cream....watch this space my friends.

Ooooh - thanks Nicky!!!!!!
