Can my doodle get lice?

My son has lice.  I know how to work with that in humans.  But it occurred to me this morning when I was making a list of things I needed to do -- can my doodle get his lice?  And, if so, what do I do?  Is the human lice shampoo safe?  Is there "doggy lice shampoo?"  The last time we did this was before we had the dog.  Any other advice?

We had a Maltipoo Rescue puppy who was found in a closed dumpster in a Southern California town during the hot summer.  She was thankfully rescued by a heroic diasbled man and wife who climbed into the dumpster to get her out.

When we got this puppy, she had all kinds of parasites - Including human lice around her ears.

Our vet said that while this is unusual, it is not unknown...
