Here is the link for a vacation idea where you can not only bring your dog, but the whole vacation is centered around interacting with the dog!
I wanted to do it this year, but we had conflicting plans.
Has anyone ever done this camp, or one like it? Anyone else interested?

We checked out something similar once and a little like this one I just sort of felt it was a little expensive. At least this one you get a room. In the other one it was pretty primitive, lots of people in a cabin type thing. To get a private cabin it got more pricy. This looks like a lot of fun and we would maybe consider it if a bunch of DK folks were going to get together (sort of like the cruise). It is just that it says 5 days, but it is really probably more like 3 days because the first and last one are pretty much a write off probably check in after 4 check out at noon sort of thing. $2000 for 3 days is tough on a retiree budget! (That's a month in a beachfront condo in Florida in January when it is cold cold cold in Ohio, lol).
I'd rather do the beachfront in Febrrrrruary, too! But it would be tons of fun! An advantage for us is that we could drive there in 3 hours. Florida for us is a long haul (as it is for you) and time is the premium, since vacation time is not endless. Boils down to the same story- working full time gives you more available funds, less time and vice versa.
My DH thinks I'm nuts anyway! I guess it could get very old, very fast with that many dogs of all types. We need a private doodle session!
We are going to Camp Dogwood this weekend. It is Friday through Monday and I am SO excited. I convinced my DH to go with me and the three dogs. We will have our own large room in the lodge but it will be some primitive - think kid's summer camp. I am packing bedding for us, extra towels for the dogs, clothes that I don't mind getting muddy, etc.
You can find more information about it at http://www.campdogwood.com There is a cool video on the home page and also clips from being featured on Animal Planet at http://www.campdogwood.com/video.html
We talked about the price but the three dogs are getting multiple activities each day. Around here an agility or nose work classes runs about $25/hour. Each dog gets 13 sessions so that's $975 worth of activities. I plan on getting my money's worth! We'll try to eat a lot too. ;)
Hope you all have a blast! Let us know how it goes.
Wow, this looks like a great camp for "all"! The list of activities is amazing! Now, if it was only in Ca. :)
That's great, but right now I'd like a vacation from my puppies, not with them. ;) Maybe sometime in the future...
