Chase is getting Lumpy:(

Chase will be five years old in mid-December and is a nice lean boy. At the end of the summer I noticed a small lump between his front legs, and thought it was an insect bite. When I was clipping him the other day I noticed it was still there. We were at the vets yesterday because he hurt his leg charging around outside, and I asked her to check his lump. She found another one close to his groin. She was fairly confidant that they were just fatty lumps, but we decided to take sample seeing as there was more than one. They were going to look at the samples in-house, so I'm hoping to hear back tomorrow. I know some breeds do get lumpy as they get older, but he is only five!! Has anyone has experience with their doodles getting 'lumpy'?

Yep, JD is covered in lipomas. They're just fatty tumors which are usually benign, but they can get pretty large and interfere with movement or with organs and muscle, so sometimes they have to be removed. Leslie's Halas had some removed recently, and she wrote about it here on DK.

Our Ellie was eight years old when she had a big lump on the front of her chest. It sounds like in the same place as Chase's. The vet said that it was a fatty tumor and if it continued to get larger she would like to remove it. As time went on, the tumor became huge. The tumor was removed and biopsied. The biopsy was negative. Ellie is now ten years old and full of pep! It is extremely scary to find a lump, and I have a tendency to always think of the worst. I think that I remember the vet saying that these lumps are very common and there is no need to remove them unless they are causing some discomfort. Think positive:)

Didn't hear from them today. They usually call the house and leave a message, and I was at work all day - no message when I got home. So, I'll have to call them tomorrow. I'm thinking that if it was anything to be worried about, they would have for sure called today - hoping so anyway.
