I don't know if anyone else here is as big a fan of Etsy as I am, but they have some really really cute collars. And some of the shops are doing engraved buckles where you can put the dog's name and phone number.
I hate jingly tags. And I'm not a huge fan of dangly tags, even when they're quiet - for no specific reason except that I don't love them. I have Katie's rabies tag on my keys so she doesn't have to wear it.
So for us, the engraved buckle is a great option, but it always significantly increases the cost of the collar and thus limits her wardrobe options. In my head, I'm thinking of something like the metal tags that are riveted to the collar, but removeable so I could put it on different collars. But it would have to be something that didn't add a lot of bulk to the collar, and I don't think velcro would be secure enough.
I can't really imagine a situation where Katie would get lost. I'm pretty darn careful and paranoid about that, but being paranoid about that sort of thing, I don't think I can ever be too careful. She's also microchipped and all the info is up to date, but losing her is one of my worst nightmares!
Any thoughts?

I've ordered personalized collars from Hot Dog Collars. I've gotten the embroidered ones, below $9.00. I've also gotten the leather ones. They both last forever. I give them as gifts to all my friends when they get a new pup. I put the dog's name and owner's cell number on the collars. That way you don't need any hanging tags. Love them.
Thanks for sharing that! I don't know how I missed your shop! I thought I had looked at all the collars on Etsy! I think the embroidering is a great option!
I like boomerang tags for this reason, but their collars are boring.
I like them, too!
These sound very nice. My doodles couldn't wear them because they mat badly with flat collars and have to have rolled leather or the plastic water collars.
I just bought Orwell a collar from here because we play in the water a lot and didn't want his other collar getting smelly. I also wanted a bright color for him since he's a dark dog.

I was very pleased with the quality. It was actually a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be. Nice and heavy duty... should last him the rest of his life (I think his neck is done growing at least).
There are multiple options to get the tag on the collar itself. No more jingling here. (:
