Curly Maintenance vs Wavy Maintenance

I know there are a number of you with multiple doodles or have had previous doodles in your lifetime.

We're getting an F1B goldendoodle so that might make a difference.

In your experience, is one coat more maintenance than another?  More mats with one coat?  More brushing required?  More shedding with one coat?

Thanks for sharing your experience.  I'm not sure I'm up to brushing an adult dog every day.

Hi there! Loki is an F1 bernedoodle so their coats are very similar to LD's and GD's and he has a loosely curly coat that I would consider non-shedding with regular brushing. But let me tell you it is a thick thick thick coat! If I don't put in either 20mins a day or an hour every 2-3 days I find tangles that lead to matts.Most groomers will do a really good brush out only and since we are just finishing up losing the puppy cost I hve been taking him every other week to help stay on top of it. lately though it seems that we are at the end of this puppy coat phase so that will be nice! Our friends have a wavey golden doodle who sheds but not as much as a golden retriever and they only have to brush him 2 times a week and never had matting problems. I guess it just depends on if you'd rsther vacuum or brush. :)

Hudson is an F1B but he had a straighter coat as a puppy and shed as a puppy too. Now he has a gorgeous spiral/wavy coat.

We keep it short because it gets really dirty walking the gross streets of Chicago, and we do a lot of romping in a dog-friendly forest preserve. When we get him groomed, his fur looks straight/shaggy and it gets spirally as it gets longer. When he mats, it's between his toes and behind his ears, but otherwise a quick brush once every few weeks is enough.
