I recently adopted a labradoodle. The breeder has both the mom and dad on site. A f1 labradoodle, but it was bred back to a full blooded lab. Does this still qualify as a labradoodle. I have been getting different information.
Is the puppy from an F1 Labradoodle bred back to a Lab?........Because I have been seeing this quite a bit from inexperienced backyard breeders who try and call puppies resulting from a first generation (F1) doodle bred back to a purebred Lab F1Bs.......This is not the case!...(try telling them that and it's like talking to a brick wall...)
An F1B is a result of an F1 doodle bred back to a purebred poodle and is 75% poodle and 25% Lab......
Yes, your dog is a labradoodle. It is part lab and part poodle. Usually a breeder will breed a F1 to a poodle and not a lab, but your dog is still a labradoodle.
Thanks for the information. I did see a site that said that's the way they bred back to a lab. I don't know that much about what to expect, but I know the breeded insisted that I was getting a quality labradoodle. It looks more labbish with a poodle face and some poodle hair down the back. I was told at the vet that sometimes their hair changes more as they mature.
From a purely genetic point of view the cross of a first filial generation bred to either purebred breed, lab or poodle, is the same designation-wise , I think i.e. F1b. The resulting dog would be quite different , though depending on whether a purebred lab or poodle was used.
I'm not sure I follow. The first generation was a purebred lab to a purebred poodle. Then the offspring the labradoodle was bred back to a purebred lab and that resulted in my Marli. She is therefore, the offspring of an labradoodle and a purebred lab. So that makes her ????
I used to have labs. I would love to see your pics. I don't know the genetics stuff very well, but it sounds like you have 3/4 lab and having raised labs, I think this will be a wonderful dog. What color is he/she?
I will post pics as soon as I can get them off my Blackberry!! Tech savvy is not one of my stronger suits, but she is a beautiful black puppy with an amazingly shiny coat with a keen poodle face. I think she is just adorable.
Yes, it is still a Labradoodle but a very early generation one. You may experience more shedding but a nicely boned doodle with very little Poodle influence.
