Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi all, I'm writing this post because Mindy had a hard time between her 11- 13 weeks of age with digestion and bad diarrhea. We had her on a high protein food and that wasn't helping. Our vet suggested a food called NurtiSource puppy for small and medium breeds and now she is normal again. It pretty much cleared up her problems right away. Seems like doodles have sensitive systems, anybody else have this problem and have found things that helped?

Any dog can have digestive issues, it really has nothing to do with the breed. We do have a lot of doodles here with digestive issues, and a lot of help with this in The Food Group. 5 or 6 years worth of discussions and well-researched solutions, in fact.
Keep in mind that with digestive issues, it's the specific ingredients and the nutritional profile that make the difference. The brand of food itself really doesn't have much to do with that. Within any brand, there are various lines of food, some with grains, some grain free, some with more or less protein, some with limited ingredients, all different kinds of protein sources, etc. So it is not the Nutrisource brand that has made a difference for your pup, it's the specific formula. I am sure that there are formulas made by many other companies that would work just as well.
We have a list of recommended brands in TFG, and our recommendations are based on the manufacturing practices and the sourcing of ingredients. We do not recommend any company which imports ingredients from China, or that uses certain artificial colorings, preservatives, or vitamins in any of their foods. Due to these factors, we do not recommend Nutrisource. It is made by a company called KLN which doesn't meet our "recommended list" standards in this regard. Some of their lines are fine, but some of them are dreadful (Tuffy's, for example) and their sourcing is questionable. Just an FYI. :)
Okay, very good to know. We were desperate for something that would help her out because it was really bad. We tried to keep using the same brand we started her on, but even when we switched to a chicken/rice formula, it was still terrible. So the vet recommended this particular one, the nurtrisource puppy for small and medium breeds, and it worked right away. We needed relief! But I will check out the list up here and see if I can find one that matches the ingredients so that I can support the appropriate companies.
The Food group will be happy to help. :)
Neither of my doodles has much of a sensitive stomach, however I seldom vary their diets.
