Has anyone heard of Dinovite? My mom's friend swears by it for itching but I'm skeptical:

Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Sue.

Thanks, and my goodness and phew, I am so glad I don't own any dog related companies even though I never revealed that before : )

I was pretty sure you owned Picasa, but never thought about a dog related company :)

Ha I would love to own Google who owns in turn Picasa : )

This always reminds me of "Big Brother is watching us" when companies chime in when there is one mention of them. Remember Banfield awhile ago in one of my posts?

Yep, and then recently we had VPI join and respond to a post about their not paying for a claim, I forget whose.

Whenever someone joins the site and immediately posts in a discussion about any particular product, it's usually someone who works for the company, lol. They are not here to be part of our community, they take no time to look around, read the guidelines, or get to know us; so it naturally appears there is an agenda.

Karen,

It was mine for VPI insurance... and this post was mine too!  Boy, that's twice Big Brother has joined us because of my posts.  I'm a trouble maker!!

I think maybe you better stop using the product name in the title, lol. Or not, depending on how bored you are. ;-)

Heather,

I've read many of the posts, things seem pretty heated. Passion is a good thing especially when it causes you to examinee your own position. I personally tend to doubt myself constantly, I'm my own worse critic. It looks to me like Orijen is a great food and your dog will probably do great on this food.

It is frustrating to me how some people will take a couple minutes at a site and then dismiss it as hogwash. I am the developer of the Dinovite line of pet products and also the owner of the company. We have around 50,000 current customers who are quite pleased with the products. Dinovite has been in business since 2001. I actually got dragged into it by people who bought my dogs. I use to give the product out to people who bought my staffies. At that time I mixed three jars at a time in a stainless steel bowl. I called it the stuff in the white jar, mid 1990's.

I had a breeding kennel of Staffordshire Bull Terriers, a wonderful breed. I fed 30 pounds of raw chicken per day. At this time I started to develop a supplement to keep all my dogs in the best condition. Over the next 5 years I tweaked the formula. It was a slow process. As I said earlier I gave it out when folks bought my puppies. Before long they wanted to buy it. I was still mixing it up 3 jars at a time in a stainless steel bowl. 40 grams of this, 2 grams of that...Actually, I didn't want to sell it. Around this time my wife Cindy said "Ed, I don't know what your mixing up out there and feeding the dogs but our four house dogs have stopped shedding!" I said yeah, whatever. She said "you've got to do something with this people will love it!" So I did.

We eked and scraped by as Dinovite slowly built up. Mostly by word of mouth like your mom's friend. We get plenty of naysayers but most have never tried it. If they do and don't like it they can get a refund.

There is some misinformation posted about the dinovite supplements, probably honest mistakes. Keep in mind as the owner of Dinovite I am at a distinct disadvantage in this conversation. Many folks on here are anonymous and can say whatever they want often just for fun or to get a rise.

If you read my original post in this discussion I never said a word against Dinovite but I merely stated: "I don't think a dog needs these supplements if it's getting a well balanced diet. The fish oil may be helpful for itching but you can give it separately, much less expensively. Although I saw a list of ingredients in the "perfect" amount, I didn't see where they listed the amounts of fish oil for instance. I would much prefer to give separate supplements if I thought they were helpful for my dogs and myself and I do. My dogs get Evening Primrose Oil."

I stand by my statement. We are not anonymous to each other necessarily here and we have formed friendships among ourselves over time. But many of us do not prefer to be conspicuous by our names and professions on the internet. I am medically trained and I don't say things to get a rise. We do sometimes kid around but not in discussion where a dog's well being is concerned. You truly are at a distinct disadvantage though, but then you are a newcomer who came to defend a product that you produce.  I could add that my dogs don't shed but then they are doodles.

Ed, I think the point you might be missing is that most of us have been on this site for a long time and know the amount of hard work some of our members put into researching the dog foods and related dog products that are out there. Those members have earned our trust and respect through their knowledge, education, and experiences. A few of those members work constantly to update their information and answer many questions on this site and do not get paid one dime for their services and are not trying to sell a product. I know nothing about you or your product, but I do know these members and that is why we are jumping to their defense, especially when it seems as if a couple of new members are questioning their intelligence.  I wish you all the best with your company and hope you stick around here and get to know the community that makes up DK.

I just read Clark's comment....he said it much better than I did!
