Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Today, I had just arrived home from grocery shopping and was walking down the driveway to get my mail and a blue van pulled into our driveway. Inside the van was a young man who I did not know and as he got out of the van, I started to wonder what he wanted with me. He asked what the address was and if my name was Laurie. After we confirmed that he was at the right place, he said he had flowers for me. Now, I have been married almost 36 years and I knew John had probably blown all of his allotted funds for romance on a Hallmark card and our trip through the McDonald's drive thru on Valentine's Day, so I immediately thought I might have a secret admirer. The neighbors were out and the wife commented that she wondered what I had down to warrant flowers and the husband commented that he wondered what John had done.
Well, low and behold, I read the card and the flowers were from none other than my friend here on DK, Pat and Traveler. I have written several blogs lately about our horrible winter and the snow and the ice and Pat had commented that I wasn't the only one with problems. She felt trying to avoid stepping on sprouting daffodils was the equivalent of lost power, cabin fever, snow storm after snow storm, and ice. I guess I might have over reacted a bit and told her that her comment made me want to smack her and since my daughter lives in the same city I was going to ask her to go over to Pat's house and do it for me. Thankfully, the flowers arrived from Pat before my daughter got there and I was able to call off the smackdown. Imagine how badly I would feel if I thanked Pat publicly for the beautiful flowers and she commented that she was having trouble seeing because she had to ice her black eye.
The flowers are gorgeous and came with a lovely card! I walked my dogs today in the rain and it has been a gloomy day, but those flowers brightened up my day! I really have met the most wonderful people on DK! Thank you, Pat!! You are a special lady and made my day!!

Such beautiful flowers, I'm glad you were able to avoid the smackdown, your story made me smile. :D
Thanks, Julie!!
Oh they are lovely!! I have had snow and ice too Pat!!! Ha!! But no power outages, although my husband keeps hoping for one since he spent a fortune getting a super duper generator ready and now it sits collecting dust....but at least the snowblower is getting some use!
We had thunder and lightning today with pouring rain which made all the ice and snow on the roof come down all over the shoveled pathways to the yard--so even though it was raining, we still had to shovel! And one piece of ice cracked the storm window--mother nature.... I HAVE HAD IT!! :) But less than 4 weeks until Spring!
Ginny, LOL...I think you have to threaten her to get flowers :) Sorry about all of your weather. It poured here today, but waited until I was deep into the campground with F & V :) That way I could get all wet. LOL
We did the generator too, Ginny. It came on only once, and I was so excited I woke the DH up to tell him! but it was only for 11/2 hour and has been quiet since. Reading Laurie's blog made me thankful, anyway!
Oh my gosh...how lovely!!!! What a wonderful, thoughtful gesture Pat.....I think......or did you get wind of Laurie's evil plan to send her daughter to do you harm?
Enjoy your breath of spring Laurie! Yes, DK is full of kind, giving, loving people!
Carol, I told her about Megan coming :) I wanted to scare her :) LOL Thank you!!
Thanks, F!
OMD what a wonderful surprise! Apparently Pat wasn't into the "smackdown"! I love it...what a great group of Doodle lovers we are.
Absolutely....thank you!! Made my day!
How thoughtful and kind of Pat to brighten your day with those gorgeous flowers! Yes, DK people are the best!!!!
