Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well, we've been pretty confused given the look of our beloved Labradoodle so we had his doctor give him a DNA test...Turns out he's a 4th generation Multigen-Labradoodle & actually has more Poodle than Lab but because the Lab genes are apparently dominant, they all came through instead....So it's official.;)
I've joked when asked about his breed & said that he's all Lab on the outside & Poodle on the inside - & that's actually the truth!
Sadly, despite my persnickety efforts to the contrary, he sheds like no other...Anyone else going through this? I'd love to hear about your experience & methods for cleaning!

Well, your very lab-looking multigenerational labradoodle is certainly adorable. My two don't shed (much), but we have friends visiting us right now with their two black labs, and boy, do those two labrador retrieves shed like crazy. Our friends say that they have decorated their house to hide the hair -- they have dark floors, dark fabric on their furniture, dark linens, etc., just so that the constant shedding isn't as obvious. They also vacuum and dust all the time. I've also seen them use this loopy, rake-like comb to remove some of the hair, but I don't know what it's called. But, they LOVE LOVE LOVE their dogs, and wouldn't trade them ever for a non-shedding breed.
At least you can rest easy that your purchase was what it was purported to be. Your pup is just too adorable for words, even if doodle only shows on paper! As for the shedding, welcome to the club. One of my doods sheds enough for several dogs!
He is as cute as they come and I love his name!
Wrigley is so cute. Neither of mine shed, but I often wonder if grooming would be so much easier if they did! LOL Just curious, were all the puppies in this litter similar looking to Wrigley?
Our Meg fell out on the labby side as well, she sheds worse than any dog I have ever known and it is impossible to stay ahead of the hair. In our house we have switched to blond/khaki/gray type clothes, black only if you are getting dressed and going straight out the door. We could have created several doodles with just the hair we vacuum up. Her coat is longer wiry hair and then shorter downy fluff, you could use a furminator on her every day and still not be ahead of it. On the plus side I love her more than any dog I have ever had, she is clever and loving and when she stares at me with those beautiful rootbeer colored eyes I just melt. So, we keep a Dyson, a Roomba and Swiffer products and yet if you visit my house you are likely to leave with a bit of Meg on you, sorry about that.
Your boy is adorable and at least you know the lab is there :)
What an adorable pup--glad is is part of the doodle family!
My golden doodle looks all golden retriever outside but just like your dog he is poodle 100 percent on the inside. his nickname is "poodle head" and he sheds like crazy too. But we love him to death. Well we have him shaved down all except his tail. Not to short but enough for people to ask if he is a golden or what. Also, I have to use the Swifer and vacuum pretty often. Our dear old Lab Oliver died this April (nearly 16 yrs. old) and he shed like crazy, so we were used to the shedding issue. Jake actually looks cute with his shaved coat. We don't shave his too short, well the first time I did, but now we keep it a bit longer. His tail is like a long feathered fan. I'll post a picture of him.
As a veteran of forty years of Siberian Huskies - invest in all hard floors, my preference for ease of upkeep is Pergo (fake hardwood) or second engineered or real hardwood. Then buy the rechargeable Swiffer with both the little vacuum and the disposable dustcloth. I can do my whole house 2300 square feet in under 20 minutes.
