Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I'm just curious… our Dood constantly "holds hands." If we are sitting on the couch, he puts his paw up and we have to "hold" his paw. This can go on all night. If people come over and he sits in front of them, he sits and hands them his paw. He pretty much wants people to hold his paw all the time unless he's sleeping, playing with a toy and eating. It's very sweet but it had me wondering. First, is this a poodle trait? A golden trait? Or just a Ridley trait? And second, is it a specific dog behavior? Like does he want something else? And the silly humans just keep holding his paw?? He seems happy, he almost falls asleep standing up while holding hands. :o)

our doodle Mila will hold her paw up and lay it on our arms when we are sitting beside her and she is relaxed
,, she seems to want to be close,, not sure if anyone else's does too??
That's what our "Myla" does too! She will lay beside us on our loveseat and then put her paw over our arm or knee - it just seems to be closer! We love it! Now DH and I are trying to figure out how she chooses between us! lol
Jackdoodle will sit down in front of me and offer me his paw when he wants some attention. He also does it to his acupuncture vet to get another treat, lol. I don't think it's a breed trait, though. none of my poodles or schnoodle did it, and JD is a Labradoodle. I think it's a JD trait...or in your case, a Ridley trait. :)
Both Ragley and our pyrenees do this so I'd say it's a Ridley trait!
Calla often paws at me if she wants petting or scratching. But I never try to just hold her paw, I wonder what she would do.
Awww - that's so cute!
Beau will come stand in front of me when I am sitting, stretch down like a downward dog and then reach his paw up and put it on my knee. Of course, we think he is so cute!! Charlie is a hand shaker!
We had a Springer Spaniel who did this. Our doodles don't. It is a very cute trait.
That is so cute!
