Sometimes things are so funny and unexpected that you just have to share.
A few days ago my DH started a converstion with "I have to tell you what I did today and I really hope no one was watching". I was almost afraid to hear what he was going to say next. The story continued like this, " While I was at the golf course today walking with Quincy he was having problems with snowballs stuck to his paws. He had one that was really bothering him and he would stop every few steps and try to chew it off. Quincy couldn't seem to get rid of it so I tried to pick it off for him. I tried to get it off with my fingers but I couldn't get it either, so I took a quick look to make sure no one was watching and then I picked up his paw and chewed it off myself". OMD, I couldn't quite believe he had just said that, I found myself practically falling on the floor from laughing. When I finally stopped laughing I said " You know I am going to write a blog about this because it is just too funny to keep to myself". He just smiled, I think he already knew when he told me that his secret wasn't going to be so secret anymore.
Do you have funny stories of things that you have done for your doodles that would make other people say, "I can't believe you did that? If so please share your stories here, I promise not to tell, your secret is safe with me. :>)

Donna, I like your husband, but it never ceases to amaze me that they tell us this stuff. Surely, they know it is going to end up on DK for our amusement. LOL I am also remembering your caption picture (head butt) and wondering what other secrets your DH might have. Was something stuck on Quincy that day? ROTFL
Oh gross Laurie!! bahaha!!
BG, I knew you would like that reply :)
LOL, I'll have to ask him.
Hahaha! Love that story. Our Sophie gets very anxious at the sound of thunder. If it is storming at night, she paces in the hallway outside our bedroom. During a recent storm, she was back and forth, back and forth. I could not console her. I drifted off to sleep and a few minutes later I noticed she was quiet and settled. I got up to check on her. My husband had gone to the guest room bed and snuggled her in with him. They were both sleeping like babies. When I asked him about it in the morning. He sheepishly said "I wanted you to be able to get some rest". I laughed knowing she had him right where she wanted him. Never thought I would love my husband more for sleeping with another girl!
That's adorable! I admit, I do give guys that I date MAJOR points for being good and sweet with my doodle girl.
Aww Donna, what a sweet guy to do that for Quincy.
I quite frequently pick off dried poop from Coopers butt. Does that count?
Only this morning DH took Cooper out for her morning potty. He has the habit of getting her to pee and poop then its back inside and I take her out later to play and for a walk. I told him he needs to play with her a little too - let her run and stretch her legs first thing in the morning. So today he puts her on her long line rather than using the leash. Throws Orange Ball, the long line gets caught on his foot and he falls over in 10cm of snow.... in a patch of ...errr.... yellow snow!
Awesome Kaytlin! Bet he was happy with you!
I think I posted ont this before, but it seems most appropriate to share it again right here. Rua expects to go everywhere with me on the weekend. If she sees me getting out of my fleece zipup and comfy pants, she knows I am going somewhere.
So, on this particular Saturday, I had to do a few errands that weren't all about Rua...one of them was actually going into the bank to deposit a check written from a Canadian bank. The bank is really close to a main expressway...and VERY noisy traffic-wise. Rua was freaking out a bit when I got her out of the car. I always have her go potty before I take her in whereever I am going (forgot to do that once when we went to Petco and she was under 4 months old and I had her in the cart...do you want to guess the splatter range of potty from 3 feet off the ground), so, I thought we would make use of the nice landscaping near the entrance. Well, Rua decided to poo...more like the noise was scaring the crap out of her, I think. I decided to go into the bank and clean up on my way out since I just wanted to get her out of the noise.
I am in the bank with it's beautiful marble floors, walking up to the teller, as Rua is frantically trying to run and hide somewhere, when all of a sudden, poo drops from her. There was no poo stance (you know the one I mean)...it just came out...on this beautiful cream-colored marble floor. Oh crap, I think to myself (pun intended). I am looking around to see if anyone saw this...fortunately the bank is empty. And I thought I was the one that was supposed to make a deposit at the bank, not Rua!
When Rua took the S.T.A.R. puppy class, one of the things as a responsible puppy parent we were required to do, was to always have poo bags on us. So, I reach into the zipper compartment of my purse, trying to do this all one handed since Rua is pulling at the leash still, grab a bag and quickly reach down and scoop up the poo. I quickly stuffed the little blue bag back into my purse, walked up to the teller, finished my transaction, and got the heck outta there.
I picked up the rest of the poo from her first deposit, of course, on my way out. Gotta love Life with Rua!
Dori-Your purse?????
I was in a little blue bag! I have also stuck filled poo bags in my pocket. I am most careful to remember to empty my purse or pocket as soon as can.
