Do you pluck your doodles ears?

Abby is almost 5 months old and I have noticed some fur growing inside her ear. Do you pluck your doods ear canals? What do you use? Fingers, tweezers?

With all my dogs (even the non curly min shnauzer/shitzu - RIP) the vets said to just pluck the hair out from the ear canal with my fingers. I was told it didnt hurt them but ....) Anyways after reading these posts I am not sure what to do becaue I certainly dont want to cause an ear infection by pulling out Abby's ear hair (which I did - it came out easy and she didnt mind). I have never noticed an ear infection on the other dogs after visiting the groomer but I am embarrassed to say that my old dogs are/were so stoic that if they were pain I didnt know it. I know more now - and am more savy about what to look for if your dog is hurting besides the obvious yiping/howling.

Also Abby often wears her one ear upside down...a lot in fact lol! I find I am flipping back over often. Do any of yours like to wear there ears in the flipped open position?

Couldn't be a bad thing.....at least she is getting air to it, lol.....that is the problem right? Not enough airflow so they stay too moist?

Actually, it's a good thing when their ears are flipped back; the air gets in there! Joy and some others have advised periodically holding the ears up with a scrunchy, which I think would have the added benefit of looking really cute!
Reg, if the hair comes out easily and Abby doesn't seem bothered by it, I'm sure you aren't doing any harm. When the groomer hurt my poodle and caused an ear infection, you could see the reaction immediately. I would just continue doing what you're doing, it seems to be working.

After Archie's (11 months old) second ear infection, I now take him to the vet about every 12 weeks and let them pluck the thick hair out of his ears. The groomer cleans the ears monthly as part of the grooming process. I am hoping this combination will prevent future ear infections. Audrey Goldman in Studio City, CA.
