About Me:: I am the mother of 3 great kids (yeah, I'm biased). I am married to a wonderful man...who didn't say no when I wanted to get a second doodle....honey...you rock!

Update, he is even more wonderful because he is accepting of wayward doodles in need of fostering....Emma was recently with us, but she has moved on to her furever home! Now we have Ms. Tessie, a (doodle?) puppy that is such a sweetie. I am out of practice with puppies, but we are all adjusting well!

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!: We have a 5 year old (May 9th) F1B labradoodle named Shiloh....he came from a breeder and we picked him out especially for our family. Almost immediately after getting Shiloh, we knew (ok, I knew) that we (I) wanted a second doodle for him to have a buddy. I was starting to look at breeders again, researching everything like I always do. Then out of the blue I got an email from Jacquie, talking about the urgent need for rescue help in Texas. A few phone calls and a couple of heartbreaking pictures later....my daughter and I were on our way to Lewisville, Texas to rescue our new black doodle baby, Fenway. I can't tell you how rewarding the experience has been. Update: Fenway is the love of my life, now 4 years old and he is the best boy, ever!!

Tessie has recently arrived in our lives via the San Marcos Shelter. She is believed to be a doodle by the shelter vet, I am not yet convinced, but we will see. No matter what she is, she is sweet and loving and has really recharged the energy level of our other two doods. =)

Where did you get your doodle(s)?: Breeder, Shelter, Rescue

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?: I grew up with a poodle in our house, so that is what I am used to. For me, a doodle was a no-brainer! We chose a doodle because we wanted an inside pet that was large and non-shedding and we like the traits of labs and poodles.

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?: Shiloh is a total spaz! Fenway is sneaky and loves to chew, but if you say "no" even one time, he listens right away...of course he will try it again in a couple of minutes! We love the dog park. They love rawhides....but I have heard they aren't good for them, so I need to rethink that choice.

Does your doodle(s) shed?: Nope!

Who grooms your doodle(s)?: Kanine Klippers

Favorite Doodle Products?: I don't have a favorite thing that is specific to doodles, but they love toys they can share...rope toys. And if one has a bone, they other one better have one too!

Relationship Status:: Married

Well, we have made it home from Fenway's exciting day at the vet. He is SOOOO different than Shiloh was. Shiloh was all drugged up after he was neutered and slept for a long time.....Fenway seems almost wound up and happy. He has also already tried the butt rub.....in the grass before we ever left the vet! I had to keep pulling him to a stand on his leash so that he wouldn't hurt the stitches before we even got out of the parking lot. So I have an appointment for Fenway to be neutered tomorrow. He is not really a fan of being brushed....so I thought I would get him a haircut today so that for the next week or two I won't have to bother him with the brush. Poor thing, getting all gussied up.....has NO idea what is in store for him tomorrow! I am a little bit scared about it....mostly because he won't be able to play with Shiloh like he normally does. Fenway was a MONSTAH yesterday!

We took my oldest daughter to camp yesterday (she's 21 and will be a camp counselor all summer). My son went to grandma's house while we were gone. My other daughter left home at 10:30 to go to her lifeguarding job. When she left, she put the boys in their crates. We got home from our drive to camp at about 3:00. So they were crated from 10:30-3:00. I think Fenway was not happy about being left home alone most of the day....he was in all kinds of trouble last night. We had the peeing on the bed… Continue

At 12:29pm on September 25, 2009, Lynda Kamrath said…: Response to your entry of May 28 regarding "desanding a doodle". We go to the beach just about every Sunday and Groucho Too loves to wave dive. Some days, I even keep him on leash so I don't need to clean him up afterwards. But here are some of the things we do to make the job easier.
1) We have a truck bed liner in the back of the car for cleaning up after a romp on the beach.
2) For minimal clean-ups, I have a pail that I fill with water and shampoo and wash his feet after a beach trip (on the concrete floor in the laundry room).
3) My husband blows off the dogs with an air compressor to get the sand off (but you have to introduce them to that slowly).
4) And if nothing has worked, it is time for a full bath and blow dry.
As I said, we pretty much go the the beach weekly and you sure don't want to bathe your dogs that frequently, but sometimes that is the only choice.

Yes, we need another get together with all the Angie Silkman litermates. I try to email Angie every now and then to keep her updated on the dogs and to send her pictures. I think some other of our litermates are also on this site. Jason Kyle with Cash and there is another one that also goes to the Georgetown dog park with her Owen. I'm so glad you emailed me and would love to plan another gathering with the litermates. Maybe in October it will be cooler and the dogs will last a bit longer. Josie and Sancho get tired real quick with this heat. Feel free to email my hotmail address and I will try to check this site more often too. Until next time.
