Do your doodles lick?

Do any of your doodles lick you? I've heard all kinds of reasons why dogs lick: the salt in humans skin, they are submissive to you, they are trying to put their scent on you, etc. I don't know which is true or if there is a specific reason. I'm really not sure why some dogs lick and why some dogs don't. Jake does not lick humans really at all. He will smell you but not lick. Brisby will just lay next to me and lick and lick until I tell him to stop. Pickles is somewhere in between but probably leans more toward minimal licking. Do any of your doodles lick? What causes some to be "lickers"?

JD rarely licks people, but when he does, it seems to be a submissive gesture, or what I like to call "kissing up." :)

Well then I guess Brisby feels like he's got a lot of kissing up to do with me. Lol!

Enzo does occasionally, but not excessively. Now, if I put any kind of lotion on...all bets are off! She is bound and determined to rid me of it all!

Riley is the same way with lotion...even no scent lotion. She goes insane trying to lick my hands.

Sophie will only lick her dad! I tease him and tell him that he must be constantly sweaty because if she could she would lick him all day but when it comes to me she will only lick if I have food on my hands etc. Silly girl :) 

[Emily, Bentley, & Maserati]

Bentley only licks me, my husband occasionally, and our friends little 2 year old. He is a selective licker, aka kisser. Maserati on the other hand, is a crazy licker. My husband & I get showered with Maz kisses all the time. He also licks others, but not as much as he licks us.

Meg seldom licks but Polly loves it, the first thing she does when she greets you, jumps up beside you on the couch or as you open her crate.  Funniest is when I am grooming her, she has her head turned and trying to kiss us the entire time.

Both of my guys try to lick my face whenever it is in reach. I like to think it's their way of kissing. They usually leave the "rest of me" alone, unless I have lotion on...it must taste good to them.

Me too.  Anytime they kiss little kids I'll always say is she giving you my kisses?  They always think that is cute.  Sometimes it scares them until I tell them they are kisses.  Lucy licks everything.  Herself, the floor, the rug, me, the comforter, etc., however, she has allergies so I sometimes think her tongue itches.

Haley rarely licks me  but the other day I had to leave him for several hours with NO ELECTRICITY.   When I got back he was VERY happy to see me and licked  my arm.  He licks my DH occasionally and usually when he is sweaty.

Bodi will lick someone's hands in the evening.  He also gives a kiss on our legs or feet as he walks by.  Of course I believe he is saying "I love you mommy" when he does this!

Neither of mine lick much.  Eloise does lick the palms of my hands occasionally, and it's just randomly when she's sitting next to me.  But she sounds the same as others with lotion; if I have it on, her mission is to get it off me.  Now Beasley is starting to do the same thing.  Not sure if she has the same attraction to the lotion or if she's just learned by watching big sis, lol!
