DerbyDoodle is post her 1 yr bday by a few days...so....I decided now that her stools seem stable & no additional items are added to her diet (pumpkin) and I stopped the ProviableDC...that she is okay for a once a day daily feeding....of course 3rd day into this plan....she let me know she was hungry around 5:30 pm. I gave her the one remaining large cube of Primal chicken that I held back from the normal amount of the twice a day feeding. She really goes to town over this food & I thought it better to withhold some of the 2 course meal b/c I was concerned it maybe to much all at one meal & thought slowly adding more would be good. I think I a.m. Okay about transitioning to a once a day meal...Correct?
She's maintained her 10.5 for a few months...
Thanks for your ideas...always enjoy the comments

Everything I have read on this subject says the experts in this field recommend you feed your dog twice a day (once in the a.m. and once at night).  So you divide the recommended daily feeding in half and feed half of that in the a.m. and half in the p.m.  Why do you want to feed only once a day?  Just curious?

I agree completely with Linda. It is much better for any dog to feed twice a day, and for a dog with digestive issues, it's a must, IMO. I would also ask why you want to feed her only once per day?

I would also caution you again about making only one change at a time. Derby just went through a significant digestive upset with bloody stools, etc. Now that she is finally back to normal, I would not have eliminated both the fiber (pumpkin) and the probiotics (Proviable), which are both important for the formation of normal stools, at the same time. One thing at a time. You cut back or eliminate one, and wait. if the stool stays fine, you can then eliminate the other if you want to, although i would continue to give some form of probiotic or yogurt for at least a month after taking metronidazole. And certainly, I would not have made a radical change like giving her all of her daily food intake at one meal per day at the same time that you are eliminating the pumpkin and probiotics. If her stool gets loose again now, how will you know what is causing it?
