I know that I am not alone in this...Henry is the sloppiest water drinker ever, he trails water everywhere after he gets a drink from his bowl in the kitchen...big drops of water that he then steps in and drags throughout the tile kitchen and into the living room which is also tile. I have a feeling the longer his furnishings grow the worse this is going to get. I can just see myself slipping in my flip flops and breaking my fool neck! Short of running to him with a towel (which he thinks is me initiating a tug of war situation) does anyone have ideas that have worked for them to keep from having a wet and slippery floor? I have the bowl on a towel but that doesn't help much as he walks away dripping a cup full of water with each step for several feet.

We purchased a plastic mat with a bit of a lip on it at the pet store, we use a travel bowl (called a Buddy Bowl) that is large enough for our three dogs to drink from. We still have lots of water on the floor, but these help. One of our dogs dances in the water bowl, splashing water all over, and the travel bowl prevents that.
LOL Nancy, Henry has done that too! We made the mistake of putting a few ice cubes in the outdoors water dish a couple of weeks ago during triple digit heat and he thought wow, this looks like fun...next thing I know both feet are in the bowl and water is everywhere!!! It amazes me, he plays in his water dish, the sprinklers, rolling around on wet grass but avoids our pool like the plague! I'll take a look at the travel bowl, thanks for the info!
I guess this is one of the benefits of a flat coat Doodle, no furnishings to catch water. My Lhasa-Poo Max, on the other hand is a complete mess with the water. It's especially nice when he walks up next to you and proceeds to shake his head thus showering you with the leftovers from his beard.
Henry is good at coming over and putting his face on me after he drinks and getting me all wet too!
Not water - food! I find kibble around his bowl, under the dining table and a trail into the living room!
Ditto, mine scatters her food instead of her water.
Picco doesn't eat fast, just the opposite. He'll get a mouthful, walk to the carpet, spit it out then eat one by one. Or they just fall out of his mouth while he chews. He sure didn't get that from watching us!
:-}
God forbid Henry would miss a kibble...he spends several minutes making sure his bowl is spotless!
She is an adorable sipper and dripper :)
