I'm curious to know if anyone else has a doodle who "prays." Alma will lay in front of her food dish (usually pointed directly at it) for at least 5 minutes before eating. We think she is giving thanks for her food before digging in. She will even offer up a few kibbles on the rug nearby. She takes 5 or 6 out of the bowl and drops them on the carpet. Then she goes and eats out of the bowl. When she is finished she goes and eats the few that she dropped. And finally, she wipes her nose and face on the carpet like a giant napkin. Amen!

Awwww...she's so cute with her food praying! Trav doesn't do this, but has perfected the 'time to eat' stare, which he begins using about 1-1/2 hours before dinnertime. He can stand immobile in one spot and stare for an unnervingly long period of time. And he tries to be close to you during the stare-time, too.
Kona does the same thing, Pat! And when he is fed there is no time for prayer... it is gone in seconds.
Alma is so adorable, Quincy doesn't do a prayer but he does like a good napkin after he eats. We recently replaced the last of the carpet in our house with hardwood, then we had to go buy a big rug napkin for Quincy.
Alma, it is good to give thanks. You are so so cute!
Awwww.....this is just the cutest thing ever. Vern is such a messy eater. I usually pray he confines the mess to just the kitchen. LOL I really do think Alma is giving thanks. How sweet.
You should try to train her to wipe on a dish towel, leave in next to the food bowl & lure her to it and teach her to wipe. I have a friend whose Australian Shepherd does that. It's a great & impressive trick to all us OCD people!
That would be a good trick. I'm surprised my light colored carpets are still in good shape given her antics.
Ahhh She's so cute! Zoe and Ben don't have a ritual ... Ben just follows me around close to food time and will sit in his spot in the kitchen whenever he gets a chance to let me know its meal time. Zoe will run over to her corner of the rug when she hears bowls being taken out. I don't know why she likes to eat in the living room...
How cute Alma's ritual is. But no my doodles don't do this.
My two houligans do not pray, but when Murph gets a treat he will take it in the other room, drop it on the floor, stare at it for awhile, smell it a few times, and when hes absolutely sure it's not poison he'll eat it.
lol, that's funny!
Alma is so cute! Halas doesn't pray, but he does have to find carpet or a rug to wipe his face on after he eats.
