Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi,

I am new to doodle kisses.  I have an australian labradoodle and our breeder shared this website with me.  Bella is not a big fan of kibble and has had repeated ear infections after eating wet canned dog food. I was wondering if there was a popular dog food that anyone's labradoodle enjoys.  Right now, I am using California Natural dry kibble, but I have to play games to get Bella to eat it.

Thanks!

We have tons of information on food . You can look up specifics and join the Food Group
I feed Acana.
Gina, Welcome to Doodlekisses. There is a food group you could join that has tons and tons of info. We have tried several different foods and finally settled on Fromms. We are currently feeding the surf and turf and Quincy eats it well and often looks for more. Before Fromms we had to add something yummy to his food to get him to eat it.
Quincy eats his kibble dry, I`ve never given him canned food, mostly because I can`t stand the smell of if. Good Luck.
Both my dogs eat Fromm. I switch up the formulas periodically and they love it.
You need to decide grain-free or grained. Then you need to check the recommended brands discussion in the food group and find out which ones are in your area.  Choose one and try it.  I will tell you that dogs will be as choosey as you let them be and a healthy dog will NOT starve.  Jumping from one food to another without giving  a thorough try is a waste of your time and money.  Like people, dogs can have a preference.  I notice whether my dogs seem to like their food, but it seems that they like the freshly opened bag of whatever.

Here's the Food Group's list of Recommended Foods.

It's doubtful though that your dog's ear infections have anything to do with the food she's eating, especially if it's a canned grain-free food. I know that's what you read on chat forums, but it has no basis in science or fact.

We feed Harley Taste of the Wild.  I mix the salmon blend with the lamb and he loves it.  It is the least expensive of the top rated food.

Unfortunately some dogs are not food motivated. Give Bella 20 minutes to eat her kibble, then take the bowl away. if she doesnt eat it, no treats throughout the day til her next meal time. If you are doing lots of training you can use kibble as a reward if she hasnt eaten her dinner, treats if she has eaten dinner.

Taste of the wild seems to be tasty for the dogs, so does Orijen due to the high amounts of meat in it. Red meats and fish varieties seem to be tastier for most dogs than poultry flavours. See if your local pet store has any samples of good quality grain free foods you can try

A hungry dog will not starve itself.

I feed maggie nutro ultra. It has no animal by products. Kind of pricey but worth it.
We just switched to grain free had no clue but went to the food group and they had a recommended list which helped us a lot. Good luck!!
