Doggy Crohn's Disease?

Noah the Golden doodle has been sick, losing weight.  He went for an ultrasound yesterday, and they told me that a portion of his small intestine is se3verely inflamed.  The vet said that this "is seen in his breed."  Has anyone else ever heard of this?  Tomorrow he is seeing a gastroe3nterologist, and will likely have surgery.  Please send healing thoughts.  I love this sweet, goofy boy so much, and cannot bear the idea of something happening to him.  I, and my whole family, need him!

I am so sorry to hear this...We are currently going through the exact same thing..we have our appointment with the specialist next week.  Hang in there, stay strong.  What made the dr decide that he needed surgery?

In humans it's my understanding that Chron's involves the whole intestine and colitis is located in the large intestine only. My DDIL has severe ulcerative colitis. There are several kinds of colitis.

I think that the Radiologist was being glib when he called it Doggie Crohns. Saw a surgeon this morning who said that the bowel (lower jejuneum) looked ischemic (not getting enough blood flow), but she wouldn't know how bad it was until she went in. She will also biopsy several areas to get a definitive diagnosis. He is at the hospital now, and I am waiting for a call. Thank you all for the support. It makes me feel so much better to be connected to the hearts and minds of this community!
