Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Some of you may remember that Webber and Seda took part in the studies at the Duke Cognition Center.  The book, The Genius of Dogs (How Dogs Are Smarter than You Think), by Brian Hare, came out of those studies.  Now there is a Duke website that is offering an opportunity for you to test your dog with fun exercises, send the data in, and get a report back from them telling you about your dog's cognition.  Below is the web address if you are interested in being apart of community science and learning about the testing.

Thanks Linda. Not sure if I want to know : )

LOL!  All dogs have strengths and weaknesses.  They look at empathy, memorization and cunning, among other things.

I think it's so exciting that two of our DK doodles participated in this study!

I think there was another DK dog, Leigh, Deuce and Chance, that were involved too.  That is how I found out about the studies.  The two Labradoodles across the street from me did it as well.  I read the ebook version of Hare's book and it was very interesting.  Did you know that the pack leader among a pack of feral dogs is the dog that has the most friends? The dog that rolls over in the doggie park so everyone can sniff?  With wolves, it is the most alpha dog.  Dogs are really amazing.

Dogs are really amazing! I am looking forward to reading the book!

Very exciting....just downloaded the book and can't wait to read it.

I can't wait. I remember this. I even booked marked the site and have returned several times!  So cool. And so cool, I know that you participated  :)

I was lots of fun going over to Duke and participating.  We are doing more studies this summer.

Very cool, thanks!

LOL you are a busy woman, Sandy! No homework or deadlines for the book!

I agree F, I am not sure if I would like to know either......although, Baxter is very smart because he waits until DH leaves for work in the morning and then he jumps up on the bed to snuggle beside me.  He also knows not to do it on weekends......LOL

Thanks for the information, Linda!! Of course, I already know Fudge is way smarter than me and Vern is adorable :)
