Hi, Bella and Murphy are counter surfers to the Nth degree. And we are vigilant about what we leave out 99.9% of the time. This morning I left a crystal butter dish on the counter, with about 3 tbls of butter on it, uncovered. Totally forgot to put the lid on. My bad. Came home to glass everywhere on the floor, blood drips all around it and the butter gone. After checking tongues, jaws, gums, noses, paws and every other inch of them, other than some blood on Murphy's snout,I can not find the source of the blood and no one is actively bleeding.
I called the Vet right away, who suggested X-rays might show the glass or might not, but to give bread and food and watch for diarrhea, vomiting, further signs of bleeding and possible pancreatitis. It wasn't as much butter as they have eaten before, but I see how that could happen as well.
ANyone ever have THIS happen and what was your outcome? All this and we are leaving in 48 hours for a week at the beach in California and leaving them with a friend. Or not. Will keep you updated.

Thanks
How awful. I think I'd have the Xrays done. I hope they're both okay.
Vet said glass may or may not show up. You know me, I have a more wait and see approach to all injuries and illnesses. I won't take any chances at the first sign of a problem though.
How scary, I hope all is well with them.
So far so good. Thank you.
I'm so very sorry. Hoping and praying all well be okay. One time we couldn't find the source of bleeding but saw drops of blood. Owen had a cut on his tongue and it was nearly impossible to fine it because he was licking it off his tongue. Anyway, I have not advice. I am just so sorry this is happening to your babies and right before you are to leave town. Please update as you find out what to do or any outcome.
Thank you Bonnie.
I am so sorry. I hope everything is okay. Keep us updated.
So far I have given them bread 2 x and food 3 times, to get some BMs going. Bella had one and it was fine. I am watching them like a hawk and if we get through the night ok, I still may take them in for xrays in the morning, just for peace of mind when I leave them. They will be in good hands and I can always fly back home in a few hours in need be. Thanks for your warm wishes.
Thank you for this update and hoping things continue to be okay.
Thank you Nancy. These dogs.........
