Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So we brought this goldendoodle home with us. The golden retriever rescue took him to a vet who said he was healthy and the vet documentation says no health problems. However since bringing him home ( a 4 hour road trip) I've noticed his back feet are slightly pigeon toes when he walks and when he is running at fast speeds he starts hopping on his back feet. So now I am thinking hip displasia. I have called the contacts at the rescue and no one is returning my calls. He is the sweetest boy and I am estimating his age more at 4 or 5 not 2 or 3. I don't know what now. I don't want to return him as the place he was at was awful. I have a vet appt for him early this week. Now what?

Thanks, Joanne. I feel the same way about you!

Me too.
Thanks guys. We thought Jake might have issues and you all were so sweet and ready to help but he ended up being healthy and just needed a good diet and time. We will see. Anyone know anything about rose colored spots on elbows and bum from licking? I posted about it on my other thread.

Spud has rose-colored elbows.  It may be from just crashing down on them or leaning into the elbow when he lays down.  Like a Callus!

This boy, will be just fine after some good food and REST!  It is all going to be okay

Calla has at least one, possibly two elbow calluses. Believe me in her case it's from lying.

Wally used to have reddish hair on his feet from licking. When he stopped licking, it grew back to be the original blonde color. You could actually see the line where the color changed as it grew back.

Hmmm what's licking caused by? Anxiousness or allergies?

In the vast majority of cases, it's due to inhalant allergies. I just sent you a PM about this.

In Wally's case, grains and starches seemed to be the culprits. The areas between some of his toes itched, he licked, yeast developed, and it became a challenging cycle. He also had recurring ear infections. Eliminating foods with grains and starches, cleaning his ears often, and using Dr. Scholl's foot powder between his toes, did the trick.

i'm in.

So true Jenn!  It's a great place to be:)

I second that. Get insurance first and if not as Laurie says we did it before we can do it again.
