My 4 month old English Mini - Goldendoodle puppy needs heart surgery (Serious PDA). The doctor said it was one of the worse ever. We initially received the dog for free because of some genetic defects in the mouth and eyes but we were unaware of the heart. I paid about $500 today for the initial exam and the surgery is about $2200. Way out of my range. Anyone know of a surgeon who could do a cheaper surgery? I am in the Chicago area but would be willing to travel. I have already contacted several universities like Madison, Purdue, TN, Auburn and Miss. Most are very expensive. Any Advice?
Jason and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. You did all you could for Lucy, and she was lucky to have you for her short time here. She knows how much you all love her. Your tribute sounds wonderful.
Hi Jason,
Sorry to hear about your Doodle, please try getting your newspaper involved about the story of your Doodle, you might be amazed at who might get involved when they see it in the paper, also put around collection jars with a pic and the story, you also might be amazed at all who would contribute. You can also contact the Oprah show, she might just help, there are lots of options here, just do not give up. Most vets also have a thing called Care Credit and you can pay back. Check that out. Check with your local shelters also, see what they might have to offer or advice. Wish you the best and hope all goes well with the surgery, also check with you State's Puppy Lemon Laws and contact your Attorney General Consumer Protection. I hope some of this helps, keep us updated please....Denise HannahNHoney
Oh my gosh! Looking at this brings tears to my eyes!! Lucy looks like she is smiling in the picture. You and your family made her so happy during her short time on earth. Try and remember that you did everything that you could and keep the wonderful memories of Lucy in your hearts!!
Lucy looks like a very happy puppy, even with all of the problems she had. You obviously gave her a great life. And even though you're sad now, I hope one day you'll be able to appreciate the happiness she brought to you, even though she was only with you for a short time.
What an angel-this is just not fair. Our blessings to you and the family. I am sure Jason that one day you will be blessed with a healthy, happy pup that will adore you.
I am so very sorry, Jason! Please try to confort yourself and your fanily with the thought that even though this is a huge tragedy for all of you (I can't even imagine), you did provide happy times and a warm loving family for Lucy for the time she was here on Earth. Had the breeder known of the heart defect, most likely Lucy would not have had that opportunity. So you did what is known in my faith as a "Mitzvah" (a good deed)! You are hurting, but you did your utmost for her sweet soul.
I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. Lucy was obviously very well loved and cared for in her four months. My prayers are with you, as you guide your family through such a hard time.
My deepest condolences go out to you and your entire family. Lucy was obviously such a happy addition to your family and I am sure you brought her short life such joy. Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't understand that reason now or ever. It breaks my heart to think of all you have gone through. My prayers are with you, your family and your sweet Lucy.
Oh, how sad! What a blessing you and your family had to be for this lovely doodle. I lost a dachshund after 14 years, and the pain does eventually go away and you are left with pleasant memories. What a good soul you are! What an act of kindness you did for this beautiful little dog!
