Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My Goldendoodle Archie just turned 1 yesterday and he has never really been much of a food guy.  He always ate twice a day (7-8am and 5:30-6pm).  In the last 2 or 3 months though we have dropped him down to once a day because he usually doesn't eat breakfast....I put the food in his bowl in the morning and he doesn't eat that until 3-4pm in the late afternoon or until he poops 2 or 3 times in the morning. Does anyone have a doodle like this? I've always found it strange he doesn't really enjoy his bowls of food.

We changed his food from puppy to 1+ last week if that makes any difference?  Also, he is eating the Science Diet small bites because he never seems to enjoy the regular sized bites.

BTW my dog has had Science Diet (Puppy small bites) and Blue Buffalo (Chicken and Brown Rice)

I just posted a question similar to this..Mine has no interest in eating. She poops once a day. Drinks a lot of water. Will eat if I put a topping on her food but I rarely do that because I don't want her to depend of that. I have never had or seen a dog like my doodle. She will go two days without eating. I have changed formulas of food and tried different brands..Nothing sparks her interest ( except hot dogs that we don't give her)

I am trying to figure out how to get my  hands on samples to see what it is that she will like...when she doesn't eat she gets dry heaves then I have to give her a topping and she perks back up.

Some specialty dog stores will sell "sample size" bags of food. I know that's true for Acana/Orijen anyway...

Email any of the websites for our recommended food brands, they will send you a sample. The stores usually have some, too. But it doesn't really matter, because most dogs will be interested in a new food...for a little while. Then they go back to being picky.

Monty used to be like that. He would not eat his kibble at all until I started with the toppings. Just ask Karen, I've created a monster. Dogs will eat when they are hungry. We are off the toppings now. The only thing I add into the evening meal is green beans (he needed to lose some weight).

You don't think for a minute that there isn't a link to your discussion here somewhere, do you Jarka? ROFL!

I did have to look twice to make sure it's not here. :-)

LOL, you don't give me enough credit. It's near the bottom of the first page of this discussion.

Thank you all for your help!

My only question in regards to the quality of food...is could someone please tell me which foods are best that I can get at Petco and PetSmart? The only reason I ask is because I am a single working young professional (25) and girlfriend (22) and it can get very pricey for some of these foods.

Obviously PetCo and PetSmart give us our best options as food ranges from $30-$50.

Could you please provide me with the best foods on this link that I can find at Petco or PetSmart rather than one of those fancy organic stores. Thanks!!

Sam- chewy.com has the cheapest price, no tax, and free shipping if you put your food on autoship- I am single, 23, and just graduated nursing school so I know the feeling of staying on a budget. Petco and Petsmart do NOT give you the best prices on everything you need.

This is very true for the Petco and PetSmart references LOL :)

Thanks!

I am sorry but I do not think you can find any of the foods on the list at Petco and Petsmart. If you do not want to go to the pet supply stores then Chewy.com is your best option. I feed Fromm and it is reasonably priced but I think f you are looking for a quality food and still cheap Blue Buffalo is your best option! If you buy it on Chewy you have free shipping so you are just paying for the price of the bag!
