Doodles behaving badly

Pickles and Jake are in soooo much trouble. I discovered they have been jumping on top of the hot tub cover and using it as a springboard to launch themselves on Brisby and Mac. Besides this being potentially dangerous because if the cover collapse they will go into a very hot bunch of water and may drown, the cover costs $400. I haven't been feeling well the last few days and put them all outside unsupervised. For 45 min or so. Well, I happened to open the blinds because it was raining today which rarely happens in New Mexico and I'm sitting on my couch with a heating pad, watching tv and out of the corner of my eye I seen 2 dark colored doodles hanging out on the hot tub.
I've attempted to cover it with tin foil but that doesn't seem to affect them jumping, they could care less about the sound or feel of the foil. I need to figure out something. I can't do training right now because I'm not feeling well.

Is there anything you could place around the hot tub temporarily to block them from getting on it? I'm thinking of those bar-stool height patio chairs, maybe, or some kind of barrier? Or could you place boards across the top of the tub?

Maybe set some open lawn chairs on top of the cover?  They would be light weight and take up a lot of room...  and yes, I have needed to use them for barriers before !  ; )

The only thing I can think of would be to use one of the portable ex pens (the ones that come in sections) around the hot tub....the problem is they are rather expensive.  Other than that you may need to keep them on a run....which I'm not a fan of normally, but at least while you're ill it would keep them safe.  Hope you feel better soon!

I agree with the others lay something on top - a ladder or chairs - I would hope they would then twice about getting up there.  Take care yourself and I hope you feel better soon!
