Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I searched first for a vacuum for my darling sheddy first generation doodle, and overwhelmingly its Dyson Animal.  I am ok with that but when googling to find best price there are like 4 kinds!!

Help - anyone with experience?  Is the ball a lot better?  DC17 or DC25?

Refurbished?

Anything else I need to know about this specific model?

Thanks!

Animal DC25. Get it with the ball. You will NOT be disappointed. I have had mine over 1 1/2 years and I LOVE IT. Attachments are great. Gets up everything everywhere. I have a chihuahua with teenytiny hairs that get everywhere - this sucks it all up!!

I got mine at Target - a lot of times they will have a $50 Target gift card with purchase of a dyson. How can you go wrong with that??
I have the Dyson DC14 Animal got it at Costco (like their return policy) many years ago. They came out with the ball right after I got mine I would go with the ball. I agree with everything Allyson said. It's been the best vacuum I've ever owned.
DC 25, the purple one on the ball. No question. I had central vac at my last home, so I'm spoiled for any vacuum cleaner, but this one is the best I've found.
I wouldn't buy a refurbished vacuum. They take too much of a beating not to start with a brand new one. I got my Dyson on sale and then used a 20% off store coupon; you can get a new one for a decent price that way.
I have the DC 28 Animal. It is a great machine. I bought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. You can usually find a 20% discount coupon.
I have the DC 14 Animal - it was majorly on sale on Black Friday. I absolutely love it, but I'm sure I'd love the one with the ball even more. If I didn't save so much I would have gotten the ball one.
I have one without the ball. I got mine on Black Friday too! I was in line at 3:00 am but I saved a few hundred dollars on it. Definitely get all the attachments. I love it! It's the best vacuum I've ever owned.

I purchased the Consumer Reports recommended vacuum for people with pets two years ago at Christmas. I wasn't impressed. It still works, but it wasn't getting all the dirt up. I read lots of review about the Dyson and they seemed to be mixed so I went with what Consumer Reports said . I came to regret that decision. Two of my friends with pets bought Dysons and they're experiences convinced me.

The Dyson works well on all floor types with the attachments. It does great on hard wood. My old upright was terrible!! I was actually using a broom instead of the old vacuum on the hard wood. The canister is big on mine. You'll be amazed at everything that it picks up on your floor.
I have one without the ball. We love it! Had it for over 2 years now... look for deals though. I used a gift card + sale + coupon at Linens N Things. They are expensive but great machines.
I think it is pretty obvious we all love our dysons!
Go with brand new for the warranty as suggested by others. As for the ball, I have never had the regular one, so all I know is the ball and I like it!
And the attachments on these machines are awesome. I can use them to get dust bunnies out of corners in my 12 foot ceilings! No stool, nothing. I am only 5 feet tall, quite the shrimp.
I have the DC25 the ball and I love it!!!! I do find that some of small things(like they chewed up pieces of toys that Sonny destroys) gets missed but I so love it. I got mine on sale online at Kohls and they priced matched the Target sale plus I was able to use a coupon. Was a great deal!
I have the Motorhead (hey! It even comes with its own theme song!). And it sucks ;)
OMGoodness, I have the Dyson Animal, the purple one, DC 14, AND I LOVE IT!!!! I bought mine on E-Bay. I would have no other type of sweeper. BUT, now they have that ball and when I get another, I think I would get it. You will not go wrong with which ever one you get.
