Cooper is a mess! She usually barely mats, but recently, she is matting like crazy. She is 2 so its not the coat change. I think maybe its because last time I gave her a big brushing (which I do about once a month) I really dampened her down with a lot of water so the fluff turned into curls and kinks straight away.

So now we are on a BIG brushing...... which she hates. As soon as I go to the "Coopy Cupboard" she runs to her crate and wont come out. Now, this free standing closet doesnt just hold her grooming equipment, it also has cookies, meat treats, chews, kibble, towels, backpack, harnesses, leashes etc, and its also where we hide the kittens favourite toy (a feather wand with a bell on it) which we get out every night for special Mommy/Kitten time. So when I go there it doesnt necessarily mean that shes getting groomed! But once shes had her first brush or cut in a while, she runs away just in case. I have been brushing her since she was a tiny puppy (well, no she was never really tiny!) so she is used to it, but maybe I dont do it often enough for her to feel comfortable. I never brush her for really long periods of time (half hour - hour stints) and she gets lots of high value treats. She will let me groom her - no growling or nipping, and if she tries to move away I tell her to "wait" and she stays put, but she makes it very clear from her huffing and pouting that she doesnt like it.

Anyway, I diverge!

Coopers fur is between 5 and 6 inches long. Last summer I scissor cut her down to 2 inches, but so far it hasnt been hot enough to warrant it, and I really like her fur long. Ive been growing her head fur longer as her head looked really small compared to her furry body. But now her ears seem to be too long.... they are dangling in her water, which isnt a big deal as she drips water everywhere from her beard anyway! But its nasty when she has raw. They dont look too long - actually its the one thing that makes her look girly (I think). They are about 8 inches from the top base of her ear to the end, and if I pull them under her chin, they cross over by  about 1 1/2 inches

How long are your doods ears? Should I give them a trim?

Chloe has little ears and Myla has huge long ones (they don't work though-I don't think) She also has a bunch of hair on the bottom to cute to cut!
Let's see a photo. But you can easily trim her ears down. Just make sure the edge of the flap is protected by a comb or your hand and you can cut the length to wherever you like it.

This is what I do with Sunny's long ears when she eats wet food!! She doesn't mind a bit, and whenever I get out the hairband she comes right to me because it means she's getting yummy food!

Too cute. It's a good way to dry out the ear canals too!

That's a good thing, right? (Drying out the ear canals)

I love this!
Sunny is the most beautifully groomed Doodle!  Look at the precision cut on her legs...not a hair out of place.  She has a beautiful coat.
So funny!
Oh love the legs...are they scissor cut?
The legs are great.
Yes they are!! Her groomer is fabulous.
Too cute.
