Jake and pickles are having morning throw up issues. In the morning when thePB&J gang wake up after potty they get crazy zoomies ,they were not really moving all night so I get that. They play rough and are burning off energy. About an hr after waking I feed them. After they eat, Brisby takes his perch on the couch to relax. The other two go back to crazy playing/zoomies. As I said my boys play hard. Lots of jumping, twisting and running. After about 15 minutes of this 1 or both of them will throw up their entire breakfast. Of course Brisby looks disgusted at them as he sits on his thrown.
I've taken to letting the 3 play for about an hour right after I get them up, feeding them and then putting Jake and pickles back in their crates for about 45 minutes so the can start to digest what they've eaten. This seems to be working and no vomiting issues.
I've just never had dogs that do this. I've had kids who get bellyaches if they play too crazy after a meal but I can tell them "let your food digest, slow down for a bit". Obviously that's hard for P&J so I force a digestion time. In the evening when they all eat there are no issues. Of course by this point they don't have nearly the same level of play drive.
I'm assuming I'm doing the right thing here but let me know if I should do something different.

They get fed at 8:00 am and 6:30 pm.

Thanks.
Jenn

You're doing the right thing. Dogs should really not engage in vigorous exercise for at least 30-60 minutes after eating. :)

After my two doodles eat breakfast, they want to run around like crazy too.  Years ago we had to go through a bloat experience with our standard poodle and that put a fear in me concerning exercise and eating!  When we just had Charlie there was no issue, but when Beau arrived on the scene that made it more difficult.  After breakfast, if they are acting up, I put the leash on one and het stays with me - generally sleeping under my desk while I am checking out DK! LOL  The other then usually comes in our area and lays down too.  I try to follow the guideline Karen mentioned regarding exercise either before or after eating - sometimes it is difficult.

Linda, yes I'm worried about bloat. Jake body is structured very poodle likened he is the worst at crazies after eating. I worry about this. So I just have to give them an after breakfast hour time out.

I wonder why they want to play after eating??  I want to take a nap! LOL

Libby does not do mornings!  After she eats she is out for the count!  LOL  Her zoomies hit in the afternoon when she goes outside or if someone comes in the house that she is very excited to see, but we settled her down very quickly.  Outdoors no problem, but in the house does not work!  LOL

Enzo had done this as a younger pup...eat then run around the house like a wild woman...resulting in her food all " comming forth" again. Gee...thanks Enz! But as she has aged, it is less and less...nothing like seeing her breakfast twice and her trying to re- eat! Blech!

Traz survived bloat and a twisted stomach in July 2013.  Thank goodness he is still here to share his story.  Traz eats twice a day; 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  We make sure that he has 1 to 2 hours of rest time on each side of his meals; no vigorous exercise before or after eating.  Even though he had a gastropexy (stomach tacked to his rib cage) when he had his bloat surgery, he can still get gas.  We have Pepcid on hand if he gets too gassy.  Bloat is the #2 killer of dogs (cancer is #1) so you don't want to mess around with this situation.  He is also on hypo-allergenic dog food.  So, it sounds like you are doing the right thing in making them rest before and after eating.  Good luck with your precious Doodles :-)

I let mine rest after the feeding ( Rather let them play hard before feeding ) just like you are doing. I had a dog who survived bloat, so I am vey conscious about it. I think you are doing the right thing by crating them for awhile after feeding.
