Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, you guys weren't very good at talking me out of a second doodle. Since I posted my question about why I shouldn't get a second doodle, I found out my breeder had bred Yogi's parents again. I so
Love his temperament that I think I'd like to get another one of their pups. I know it's no garantee of another great dog, but it won't hurt either! I had originally wanted a different color this time, but I'm sure I'll be just as happy with his sibling.
Yogi will be 10 1/2 months when our new pup comes home. I'm really stepping up my efforts at training him. He really is pretty well trained now ( well except for last night in obedience class when we were working on heel for the first time haha)
So our new addition will be another English mini goldendoodle. Yogi is 33#'s which is exactly what we wanted him to be, but I think I'd like this one to be a little smaller. He is heavier than he looks like when I lift him into the tub, so smaller might be better. Either way they will be fairly close in size, I just won't look for the largest in the litter...unless of course I fall in love with the chubby one :-). I'm open to boys or girls. Right now I'm thinking a little girl. Sammy, Charli, Annie, hmmmm? If I go boy, I really like Buckles.
Wish us luck, now to research info on double doodle families.

Thanks Karen. Look forward to harassing you some more about food issues ;-)

You're welcome and I'm not trying to scare you at all.  For about a year I had three dogs, so two is manageable, it's just hard with a puppy in general.  This time is going much better than when I brought Jonas home though.  He was 8 weeks and Sadie (now deceased) was 10 months.  She kind of hated him from the get-go, but in retrospect, she was probably either too young or just would have been better off as an only dog.  They worked their stuff out though and were never lovey-dovey, but got along eventually.  Jonas is very mild mannered and hasn't hurt Clover at all, so that's good!  Their personalities play into it so much.  You'll enjoy it!

Good luck, exciting times ahead for you and Yogi too!

Just saw this, but private messaged you about the other.  I feel sometimes fate intervenes and you should go for it.  We got Clancy and I wasn't even considering another dog.

Same here with Oscar. Another dog wasn't even on the radar, until one day DH mentioned Lucy's breeder had a new litter of puppies. It was only 2 weeks later we made, 'The Decision'. Best decision, ever.
Oh, I hope I'll be saying the same thing too Debb.
Good luck! And congrats on the decision.
Pics, pics, and more pics ......required!
Can't wait to hear if they have similar dispositions, being from the same parents. Enjoy :)

I know how you feel.  The first night we brought our second doodle home I hardly slept.  Yes the puppy was up , but was already up anyway.  I was so worried that I made the right choice.  Was this the thing that was going to upset the apple cart, and our happy little family will never be the same?   That worry quickly passed.  Go in with realistic expectations, and I am sure it will all work out.  There will be an adjustment period, but by the sounds like you have an awesome dog now, and Yogi will be a great example for #2.  Good luck!

Yay, I'm excited for you Leslie!  Good luck and looking forward to puppy news updates!

Good luck! Can't wait to see pictures and hear updates!
