I would wonder whether it is bacterial conjunctivitis. I would take her to the vet.
Look at that F.....you are a jeeeenuus!
Ah, thanks. I did want to be a vet : )
Daisy had the same issue when she was a pup...the Vet said it was normal and it was, she grew out of it but it took about 6 months. It was very prominent in the morning. He gave me an explanation but I can't quite remember what it was.
In the morning I just used a warm wash cloth and wiped it away..we called them eye buggers - yuck, right.
Bailey was the same way as a puppy...Eye buggers it is..
It sounds like an infection to me, not like allergies. Allergies can cause red eyes, and even some tearing, but typically the discharge is not yellow. I'd take her to the vet.
Is it really yellow or just yellowish? I said yellow, the Vet said no it's not yellow and an infection is more greenish yellow...but it may be that you need to take him in just for peace of mind.
As I said, I'd take her in and I am not an alarmist.
I believe they all have eye gunk in the morning but when you notice a change that is not the norm, it is time to go.
My doodle has the dreaded ear infection when this happens. It is one the first signs :(
We just went through this. Actually, still going through this and it has been 6 weeks of antibiotics. Glad you are going to the vet this morning. Let us know how that goes.
