So today was the big day for Loki to get neutered and everything went really well and he is resting comfortably now. The only thing odd was when they brought him back out to me I noticed his third eye lid- I think that's what you call is was a little puffy. I had the vet come out and double check him for an allergic reaction of any kind and she told me that that's a pretty common side effect to sedation or anesthesia meds. I guess it can naturally happen to some dogs too if they are tired. They kept him for a little longer (because I made them lol) to make sure it was not an allergic reaction and so far all appears well. Severe allergies run in my family so allergies aren't something I take lightly. Anyways all that to say he seems fine just sleeping and his eye swelling has slowly started going down.

Did anyone else experience this? I feel like a crazy person following Loki around with Benadryl (just in case) and my stethoscope so I can listen to his breathing (even though he's fine!).

I haven't experience it but I'm kind of a neurotic mom so I would probably be the same way. I'm glad he is doing better and has someone to watch over him.

Glad there's someone out there like me! I was feeling a little crazy for a second but better safe than sorry!

That happened to a Samoyed I had several years ago-it was after her spay surgery as well. The vet told me the same thing that they told you- it was from the anesthesia. It's sort of the canine equivalent of a bad hangover! Lol

Oh interesting, I'm glad it was no big deal your your guy and mine!

I am glad he is okay after the procedure. Your a good doodle mom to be concerned.

Thank you :)
