Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am picking up my beautiful girl this weekend.  I was wondering if anyone has the same kind of back cross?  The picture of her is my profile picture.  Any others have doodles that looked like that as a puppy? (she is 5 weeks in the picture) Thanks!

Cute pup! I have a friend who has a dog whose mom was a labradoodle and dad was a lab--it was basically an "oops" that she adopted. He has a pretty straight coat, a great personality and sheds like crazy--he weighs about 75 pounds--not sure if your cute little guy will bear any resemblance but the parentage is a bit similar.

I am not overly concerned about the shedding since I already have two shedding animals already.  Why not just add to the hair, eh? But no, I am hoping that mixing with the poodle at least decreases the shedding a little bit, but if not, I'll survive! As for her size, her mom is only 40 pounds and her dad is 55. So I am hoping my puppy won't turn out to be a 75 lb dog!

Leave it to me but I am confused ...isn't English Retrievers a normal occurrence ?

F1B is usually a F1 backcrossed to a poodle.  This is done for a less shedding coat.

I totally read that backwards ....I missed it being bred back to a retriever instead....thanks...

Denice in Las Vegas has two doodles one was backcrossed to a lab.  Here is a link to her page where you can see many pictures: http://www.doodlekisses.com/profile/DeniceReCaouette?xg_source=prof...

:)

Congratulations on your. Beautiful baby. May she be everything you dreamed of !

Thank you so much! Im sure I will keep everyone updated on her progress!

Cute as a button..... good luck with you new little girl :)

I'm hoping that the poodle brings something to the table other than a non shedding coat.

I mean, it seems like others think its silly to get a back cross to the Retriever.  Why isn't it equally as silly as getting a back cross to a poodle? Why not just get a full bred poodle if shedding is the only concern?  ( saying that I won't receive any traits from the poodle seems inaccurate, since many of you see traits of a retriever in your F1B. )

Surely there are many great qualities about a poodle that people would want, otherwise they wouldn't choose a dog that is 75% poodle.  Maybe I won't get some benefits that others look for when choosing a doodle.  That's okay since there are many  doodles that still shed, regardless if they are an F1 or even a traditional F1B.

The amazing and beautiful thing about this world is we all get to pick the dog we want... I love the golden retrievers personality.. Totally love it.... I think you will have an amazing dog...

I don't think anyone on here cares..all they care about is that the puppy is loved and well obviously he is, WHat a cute dog... Enjoy every minute and never doubt yourself you have a great breeder you said and you have a great dog... what more could you want??? I
